    Thanks jasongst!

Im gonna try that. Maybe i should also set a rule like: never swing at first, unless it´s a mistake pitch of course.

I really like this game! I played MLB The Show 07 a lot and it is great, but there´s some simulation element´s on this game that i love, like batting mechanics and the AI (defensive play, substitutions...).

I guess that, even if the game is "cartoon´s", it still play´s better than the "sim" games...

      hey fellas....
so i started my season with the Cubbies....

      CPU pitch on All Star
      CPU batting Lock 3

      HUM batting Lock 2

i started the the season against the Reds, and in my second game the Cubs had 10 runs, 22 hits, 5 HRs (Ramirez had 3 of those HRs). The Reds had 3 runs, 16 hits, and 1 HR. obviously, i am having wayyy too much success with the offense. i mean it's fun, but too unrealistic. what can i do? hitting is just way to easy, and pitching, though i gave up alot of hits, is a little too easy also. what can i do to get more realistic results? after playing Power Pros, i popped in MLB The Show 07, cause it had been a while since i played, and man, that is sim baseball baby. i am not knocking power pros at all, i absolutely love that game....but would like to reduce the onslaught. Ramirez, in two games. has 5 HRs, and Soriano has 3 HRs, and the Cubs collectively have 17 runs....that's a little much, ya know? what can i do....

Uh, turn the batting lock off. Once you get a feel for the game I think it makes it way too easy to hit balls hard.

is that all? well thank you kind sir. there is no explanation as to what the numbers on the batting lock mean, so sorry if my question seemed so elementary. the game gets boring aftre you hit your 6th HR of a ballgame, ya know? anyway, just put the batting cursor on NORMAL? or what setting?
          thanks!

Try CPU with "Normal" batting, meaning no lock.
            CPU pitching set to "Allstar"
            CPU fielding set to "Allstar"

Human hitting at "lock 1". You can try "Normal" but I find that too difficult at this point.
            Human pitching at at "Allstar".

The hits by you and the CPU should go down with these settings. I have many 4-3 and even had a couple of 2-1 games as well. My team batting average is still a bit too high after 30 games into my season (.310) with the Royals but my team ERA is in the right range at 5.40. I would set the CPU fielding at "Powerful" if you feel like you are still getting too many hits as that would make their fielders get to the ball quicker (I would assume). I am too far into my season to go back now.

thanks amigo....much appreciated. i just jotted down the settings and will rock them tonight, after the Sox game of course. the wife is insane Red Sox fan...if i am not by her side for the game, it can get ugly.

hey do you play MLB The Show 07 at all still? funny thing, my hitting in MLB The Show actually was slightly improved because of the cursor hitting engine in Power Pros...good stuff. both games are gonna get me through the long cold winter, most definitely. thanks again...i will let ya know how the settings work out.

so ashamed...It seems like I'm gonna have to turn the pitching difficulty down from Expert. Was really rocking this game on the default settings which was way to easy. I'm playing a season with expert pitching and the pitching curser off so I can't see where he's planning to throw it and man I'm having a hard time. Get a decent number of hits but I can't seem to string them together. Also I'm taking way to many pitches up the middle.

I've been doing the same thing. I lock onto the ball marker, then take a split second to watch the incoming pitch and have been doing pretty well. In batting practice, I was getting 10 for 10 on the hits. In games it's been fun and positive. Only downside is I'm swinging at way too many pitches. It's not uncommon to have a 3 pitch or less AB for me.

I do wish the umps would have variable strike zones. I'm tired of the ball ticking one pixel on the corner of the zone and having it called.

I have the computer all on expert, lock hitting on 1 i believe, and i am lock 3 right now, and i got smashed as the Phillies 9-2! Chipper had 3 bombs, and Jones had 2, haha, i was like, wow, but you have to get used to it, but man, it felt good to lose. hopefully, i can turn this series around soon!

Not all pitches that hit the corners or edges are called strikes, just so you know.

                        Anybody find settings they're loving?

I need lock-on to hit the ball. In fact, I seem to need Lock5 to hit the ball! DOesn't matter what settings I put the CPU pitcher on ... if I am on lock 1 through lock 4, I can't make solid contact, and on Lock5 I make mostly solid contact.

Thus, I am having a lot of trouble finding a middle ground.
