Anyone using an expansion team having any luck with trades?

My dream for my expansion team is to have some decent real MLB baseball players on it. I don't expect A-Rod or Johan Santana, but I would love to get somebody like Ross Gload of KC or Matt Stairs of Toronto. Has anyone who is using an expansion team been able to make any trades yet?

are there any tricks, tips to get teams to accept deals?

And what are the deals that you have made, if any?

One final request regarding season mode. Can you sign players in the off season (feee agency) to your expansion team? Anybody good available?

i've made a couple of trades in season, using a normal and an expansion fantasy drafted team.

first, use the search function well. u can change many details to help u.
2nd, u need to make it 3 stars at least. 3 stars succeeded 80% of the time for me.
3rd, some players r just freacking hard to get from some teams for some reason.
even some B-level players, the teams refuse to trade away, unless u give em someone like Pujols. just give up and look for someone else from another team.
4th, salary and age seems to play a big role in this game. Sometimes i found taking a 2nd old player with a big salary from them, actually adds another star.
also, some key positions like CF, SS/2b etc seem to be valued more.
as well as, AI teams that drafted my young Sucess mode created players... i could never get them.
tedious as it may be, try adding every player on that team as a 2nd player. sometimes, unthinkable players add a star, subtracts a star, or don't make a difference at all.
AI teams rarely want your old players. actually adding em as a 2nd player will subtract stars more often than not.
but also, crappy prospects also seem to have this effect

example, i got M. Cabrea plus a AAA player plus some cash for trading away N. Swisher plus a average reliever.

5th, giving em money, rarely seems worthwhile.

Thanks for the help...you mentioned in the post that you made some trades with your expansion team. Do you happen to know what teams traded with you and what players you got in return? All of my expansion players are pretty bad and I wonder if any team will trade with me because of it.

i did an fantasy draft, so i traded away pretty good guys.
trade AI is pretty stingy. so i can see u having a tough time doing trades.
sorry.
2 for 1 package trades don't seem to help much either.
best bet would be to wait or sim till season's over, and go crazy in FA'gency

btw, i think a player's current stats factor into the trades.
this hasn't been confirmed so i can't be sure though.
just a hunch feeling.

I traded a shortstop(Gimoli) who was listed as the starter, but lost his job to a backup, to the Devil Rays for Johnny Gomes. Worked out, since Gomes homered in his first AB for me.

Managed my first trade last night. Seems like you really gotta get 4 stars in order to trade.

also, as 3 stars don't work 100% of the time, u can save the day right b4 the trade results show up.
sim day, and if trade fails, try reloading.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. Can't wait to get home and try this.
