    Reading Pitches

My main prob right now with this game is reading balls v. strikes.

I can't play a game where I 'm just randomly swinging at pitches, with no idea whether they are balls or strikes.

So do you guys play with Strike Zone on? What other settings help you to read balls v. strikes? Do you turn on the ability to know what pitch the CPU is throwing? Do you use a particular Batting View because you like it?

I like the strike zone off, but leave the cpu pitch cursor on so you can track movement as the pitch comes in. The cpu pitching level will also determine how fast the pitches come in. I play on all-star and the fastest I have seen a pitch come in was 91 MPH I believe. On expert the speed is a little slower and so forth as you move down to normal and Novice. I would suggest starting with pitching on normal if you haven't already and then work your way up.

I'm starting to look at the seams on the ball cursor to help me determine what kind of pitch it is. The cursor spins in the direction of the ball's movement, so if you look quickly you can react to that spin and adjust the sweetspot accordingly. Like an MVP hitter's eye thing, though not as blindingly obvious.

This has less to do with figuring out balls and strikes though, and more to do with making solid contact.
