I think as more people discover this game and the power in Edit Players mode, there could be some awesome rosters made. For example, I'm already toying with the idea of creating All-Time Great Teams using Edit Players mode.
(As I've said in other posts, I have no interest right now in slogging through the Arrange Team system to create players. I don't see the point, when I can edit to my heart's content in Edit Players mode.)
My question is about the interaction between "Ability" edits and "Statistics Setup" edits on the Edit Player screen. I'm not getting what is going on here. For example, I went in and edited Henry Blanco (whose Contact is E6) up to Contact of A15, just to test. Then I went to "Statistics Setup" and hit "Automatic." The game picked up my change in Contact, rocketing Blanco's average from about .250 up to over .350. Great.
Interestingly, you can keep hitting "Automatic" and the game will keep generating different number for Avg, HR and RBI's.
Then, I tried working the other way. In other words, wouldn't it be great if you could input a batting average and HR and RBI totals on the "Statistics Setup" screen, and have the game make changes in the Contact and Power values on the "Ability" screen automatically. That would be heaven. ... but it does not seem to happen here. Instead, when I put in a high batting average and HR totals for Blanco by using "Manual" input on the "Statistics Setup" screen, nothing happens to the values for Contact and Power on the "Ability" screen.
For now, the way to go seems to be to insert Contact and Power numbers on the "Ability" screen, then go to "Statistics Setup" and hit "Automatic" to see what kind of numbers this will generate.
I am assuming that the "Statistics Setup" are an approximation of what you can expect from that player in the upcoming season.
