Re: Stupid ASB Xbox Question........
It's really disappointing that Microsoft designed the Xbox that you need Live even for things like this. I can understand actual game playing when they are hosting the game servers, but i see no reason why "content" like this should require nothing more than an internet connection. I don't have live, nor do i really want it right now, but i would love to have roster updates. Anyway, i'm just ranting.Comment

Re: Stupid ASB Xbox Question........
Ya i was wondering about that,,,but I am a newbie when it comes to the xbox,,mine is still sitting in it's box, got it for xmas, didn't even open it yet,,lol. I thought it already had the online capabilites already built in or something, but you need Xbox live to play people online. So I guess in my own theory I made up I thought I could just stick my ethernet cord somewhere in the xbox and get those new ROSTERS!! lolComment

Re: Stupid ASB Xbox Question........
Yeah, it's really too bad you can't do that. You have the ethernet card built in and ready to go, you just need to Live service to get the most out of it.
Incidently, any games that let you play over a LAN, you can actually connect using a service called Xbconnect (i think that's it) and play those games online WITHOUT using Live. I know you can do this with Halo, MotoGP, and a few others.Comment

Re: Stupid ASB Xbox Question........
Actually, some additional content has been made available on the Official Xbox Magazine's demo disk. For example, I believe the DOA 3 add-on was released this way. I do realize that DOA 3 was pre-Live, but I believe the precedent is there to offer updates via alternative means.
I've also heard rumors that the "exhibition" disks that you can buy will also have updates on them at some point. Hopefully, MS won't leave non-Live customers out of the loop. That said, I have Live, and it is great fun...
