    BETTER ASB Hitting....TRY IT!

Folks, in an attempt to try and make the game a little bit easier to hit until I get my old All Star skills back, I did some experimenting and I went somewhere I thought I would NEVER go.....in any game. Yes, EASY SKILL....ARRGH LOL. The dreaded, embarrassing, I dont want to be seen, shhhhh , dont tell anyone mode! I know alot of you are saying what was thinking...EASY mode??? NEVER, that's watered down sissy mode. Well folks, give it a freakin shot.

Not EASY batting.......EASY Difficulty. Go into the CONTROLLER MENU during a game or before a game and change the VETERAN or ALL STAR setting to EASY. then make sure you PRESS the START button to register the setting change. If you select it and just hit B to go back, it resets it....in fact, if you didnt know, this is how you ahve to register any Game option setting in the pause menu to keep the changes.

Try it out...I am actually getting some pretty realistic hitting going on with 2D or 3D cursor ( because they're sizes are simply increased ) in the EASY difficulty. I find it easier to cover more of the plate with my bat but yet still not dominate. The only thing that worries me a bit is the fact that I dont know what else thise EASY setting scales.....I hope it doesnt scale down the AI's competitiveness or it's ability to hit. It may but let's give it a shot and let me know how things work out for you......I'll post back to see if I notice a decrease in the AI's quality of play. I hop not cause hitting at this setting is really fun...at least until I can get my swing back

I just got the game. To make sure i'm understanding you correctly, you're actually talking "Rookie" aren't you? I don't recall seeing it say "easy" on the difficutly setting. The only place i've seen "easy" is in the batting system.

I'm sure this is what you mean, i just wanted to clarify.

            Hmmm

First game I had 15 hits on veteran.

I just watch the ball and anticipate the pitches. I also strikeout more than a should.

One thing I seem to notice is that speeds of pitches arent consistant. A 95 MPH fastball relatively was the same of a 89 fastball. It look the same anyway.

Okay, here's my very first exhibition game's numbers (approximately, i didn't memorize the box score). Note that i have NEVER played any ASB before.

                    Rookie mode
                    Normal hitting
                    Exaggerated pitches
                    Strike Zone on
                    Pitching Aid off

I was LA vs CO, and i won something like 23-2, with over 30 hits, and a couple of people with over 5 RBIs. I was VERY surprised at these numbers considering all the complaints people have had about hitting. I did spend some time in batting practice first, and i took the advice i've seen here about following the ball, not the cursor. I'm glad that i found a setting where i can hit and that i can now move the difficulty around to find something more realistic.

I do have a question though. Does anyone know if the Rookie, Veteran, All-Star settings affect anything other than the cursor size? I couldn't find this in the manual. I'm wondering if it makes the whole game easier, not just the batting.
