Base Running? - MLB Power Pros (Wii)

I use the classic controller for this game and can't for the life of me translate the direction booklet for use with it.

Does anybody know how to get a bigger lead?

Does anybody know how to get your players to run faster? Do I have to tap 2 buttons at the same time or just one button?

Does anybody know how to return runners more quickly?
