SOME cool little ASB FEATURES that you may not know....

For those of you that may not have played the game last year, or just didnt notice it; When your pitching if you CLICK IN the Right Analog Stick (XBox), Your pitch selection window changes to a MANAGER's access windowand you have a cool little selection of features:

A - INT WALK

X - HIT CHART gives you the percentages of the batter's hitting tendencies....( good for helping you position your fielders )

Y- HOT-COLD This changes the current batter's strike zone display to a Hot and Cold zone that lets you visualize where the batter's strongest and weakest hitting areas of the strike zone ( more Red being stronger and more Blue being weaker )

B - PITCH HISTORY This area lets you view all the details of the pitcher's breakdown; such as on the right side in a column, percentages of FBs thrown, Breaking balls thrown, Off speed stuff thrown, ect. Followed by some statistics below that.
On the left side, you can actually toggle thru each of the current batter's AT BATS to see an exact pitch and location breakdown of the at bat. Let me tell you something....today this feature really became useful for me. I was getting slammed in the game by Barry Bonds in 3 ABs, he had 2 HRs and a single off me so I looked thru all of the ABs in the chart and noticed a slight pattern that he was hitting all the pitches I put in a similar area. So using this info, I changed up my strategy and thru to the opposite areas and had some success against him.


Also, which is NEW to this year's game is the Batting Info for the batter. At an at bat, simply click the LEFT ANALOG STICK and you can toggle thru the BATTING INFO of the current batter such as current 2003 totals, CAREER totals, VS LEFTY totals, VS RIGHTY totals , LAST 10 ABs this is cool! ( during season or franchise play )

Odd thing is, you can only view this info if your the BATTER....If your on the mound, pitching, This feature doesnt work. You cant toggle thru this info on the current batter your facing....it would have been nice.

Sorry to post this info if you already know it but I figure there are alot of you like me that dont like to read the manuals but rather stumble upon features as you play....so enjoy.

Yea, I love the feature also, it helps me beat tough hitters.
This game is so immersive its sickening.

Yeah, i wrote a post about this EXACT thing yesterday, but it didn't get much attention Anyway, i absolutely LOVE this feature! It really allows you to pitch strategicly.

Another cool little thing I found is if you click on the SCOUTING REPORT of a player and go thru his LAST 10 GAMES section ( a feature which I totally love ) you can actually sort the data by clicking on the headers at the top like HRs, RBIs ect....pretty nice little feature if your a stats buff

AND I think this game actually sorts CAREER stats SEASON by SEASON!...the reason I say I think, is because I havent played more then 1 season yet but the Career section has alot of space under it. This is gonna be sweet to see a player's stats over the course of his career in a YEAR by YEAR fashion with the team he played for each season and I think all of those stats are also SORTable too!

HERE are 3 NEW COOL ones from Last year that alot of people didnt know about or use much and I dont even think these are WRITTEN in the manual this year but they all WORK!


CATCHER PICKOFF: During your pitcher's windup HOLD in the LEFT TRIGGER, once the pitcher delivers the pitch, click the base you would like the catcher to throw to and he'll attempt to pick off a runner

PICKOFF from WINDUP: ( lefties ) If you have a lefty on the mound, you can attempt a pickoff at first from within your windup......during your windup simply press the B button while your pitcher begins his leg kick....be careful not to press it too late or you'll be called for a BALK. (if your pitcher's leg passes first and makes its way home)

SLIDE STEP STRETCH: This handly little feature allows your pitcher to use a quick pitch motion or very little kick in his windup in an attempt to keep a fast baserunner from getting too big a jump and prevent him from getting an easy steal. To use it, simply HOLD DOWN the LEFT TRIGGER while holding the A button to pitch and your pitcher will use a quick sliding step pitch rather than a normal leg kick!

Well, last year's version had the Lefty pitcher pickoffs during the wind up and had the slide step function you described above. The catcher pickoff is defenitely new and sounds very interesting!
