i have over the years played every baseball game. I have played ASB for years and still believe that the 2k1 64 version played the best baseball. As for HH i have played it for years and i believe that the pc version over the years has been much better. in fact i play the pc version everyday (2001) it's a wonderful game. Now on to my review. i have HH04 and ASB04 and i must say HH is a great game but until it learns that people are looking for more than just game play, they are going to get beat out every year. i will rate the two games after playing a half season of both.
gameplay-HH-is still better you actually fell like you are playing against the 99 yankees every game you must think through. ASB is still slighlty behind in AI (bunting, player rating profermance etc EVEN THOUGH I MUST SAY THEY ARE CATCHING UP TO HH). in fact the amount of pitches at your hand to use the (swosh etc) is wonderful. When i played against the Redsoxs padro had them all and i couldn't Get a hit off of him until the late innings. The AI is great i have even see several double steals.
extras-ASB makes HH look foolish. You can do so much, the difference in hitting (classic, normal etc). The homer-run derby is worth the price of the game alone, practice, senerio, player cards,the abiltiy to have the cpu control fielders,mascots the list just goes on..
franchise-ASB is clearly better the only problem is with stats, HH keeps better stats gives you more info and the minors in HH is what makes me keep the game. The info on each batter is wonderful and they give more info than ASB plus you have more players, but the trade info and the GM info for HH is lacking plus it's hard to menuvor through the screens. The trade AI is better on ASB plus ASB makes you feel like you are trully running a franchise not just playing a agme or two
grahics-ASB wins again even though the HH isn't really that bad. The animations believe it our not i believe are better in HH, the reason being is you can't see the players close enough in ASB to see the anamations, but what really gets on my nerves is after every in field play in HH you the make that stupid throw to 2nd. The player models in HH for the batters needs to be fixed, not because they look bad but because they once again all look alike. ASB has is down almost perfectly (even though each batter is beginning to look stubby). Little things that have been in the game over the years (planes flying in NY etc) are still there. The intro to each game is also back and done very well. When is HH going to learn that this is what people are looking for.
sound-ABS has the better all around sound and announcers in fact during HH games if you hit a homer at times the crowd at home goes silent. But the sound for ABS is great the annoncers are the best of any baseball game ever, none even come close. But when is acclaim going to learn to put more glove effects into this game.
i believe that both are great games but all around ABS is better. Now for MVP and WSB, WSB will probably be ASB biggest competion. MVP more than likely will have to many problems to compete. Total ASB-9 HH-8. ASB would get even a higher rating if it didn't take so long to play. Also about the bugs. LIVE WITH IT it's a part of consol video games.
