Greatest baseball game ever?

There's a thread over in the football forums by rashalmond asking what the greatest football game ever is. Well, I'd like to ask that question for baseball.

As much as I loved the MLB The Show 07 (08 looks fantastic too), my vote goes to World series Baseball 2K3. There was just something magical about that title, that really captured the game.What's yours?

World Series Baseball 98 on the saturn. Nothing comes close.

My Vote Would hafta Be High Heat Baseball 2003 PC. Didn't have the Best graphics or Trade logic, but man did it play a great game of baseball. Still to this day had the best pitching system, pick a pitch & location, then hope it gets there. Batter Pitcher interaction was great & zone hitting was on the mark. You were also able to recognize the pitch because the spin on ball was exxagerated visually. Add to that the Modding ability & out of game roster editor & you could give that game the visual look of a T.V. broadcast. To this day this is the only Baseball game I actually got a full season in playing every game, sure it took awhile & game had some imperfections here & there, but it was a blast. I wish Microsoft would've done something with the game instead of burying it forever.

I think the answers are going to directly reflect said persons nostalgia "rating".
I can't really say which is "the greatest".
If I had to pick one, it would be one that directly strikes a nerve as far as memory/fun/age. This is would probably be RBI Baseball or Earl Weaver Baseball.
However, knowing as I do, neither are probably the greatest ever so I'm left with the same question. Which one?

I might actually be playing it on March 4th of this year but my senses would say "no way" it's FPSBB(another fond memory era of baseball gaming for me).
So basically I don't think we can say which is the greatest ever.... Or at least I couldn't honestly say which one.

Out of The Park 2007 beats out MLB 07 The Show for me. Sim Gaming at its best.

Yeah...this is very subjective.

...very tough...I loved so many different baseball games over the years.

I don't think I could do it...pick just one.

Man, this one is tough. I loved the Show on the PS2. But my favorite has to be All Star baseball. That game had the best looking stadiums and I like the gameplay in it too.

It makes me ill when I think of all the great baseball games which will never get a next-gen version. Can you imagine what the stadiums in All-Star would be like? I really miss the days when we had 5 baseball games to choose from.

The first World Series Baseball for the Genesis is the one that gets me all misty eyed. I had just gotten out of the army and had the summer to kill before I started my new job. My wife was pregnant with our first baby, and life was really taking off. I spent that summer playing World Series Baseball and rubbing my wife's belly. Great times.

This is a tough one to answer-because my choice would be a "frankenstein" mix of different versions. But,the one I played the most was probably World Series Baseball-But I don't remember if it was for the Genesis or Saturn?

I can't narrow it down to just one. Here are the candidates:

Baseball Simulator 1.000 (NES)
Tony LaRussa Baseball 3 (PC)
High Heat 2002 (PC)
MVP 2004 (Gamecube)

If MVP didn't have the lefty glitch (or if I had the PC version to patch it), it probably would've been the winner.

the other pc games for ability to view massive amounts of boxscores, editting abilities and other goodies

I loved the Bases Loaded series. Especially team Jersey. Bay and Paste. That was a killer combo. But my buddy would always bean Paste and he'd charge the mound and he'd get thrown out.

Only problem with Jersey...they couldn't pitch worth squat.

The mound charge thing-that was pretty good there. They should put that back in baseball games. Bases loaded-played alot of that. And even the Hardball series.
