First select the grip. Up or down on Dpad changes grip type. Maybe three or four types. Show the pitcher switching grips behind his back of while getting the signal, or holding glove to his face with runners on.
No more pinpoint icons for location. You control the general location, 9 zones ala 2k's catcher. Your ability to match the correct grip and right ammount of break determines the overall accuracy.
Down on analog starts windup, up throws pitch. Speed of analog upswing dictates the pitch speed. Like 2k's batter step...Timing factors into pitch accuracy. Early upswing gets the pitch up a bit, late upswing drives the ball down. Using the release points to your advantage, in conjunction with the break
Pitch break is handled on the triggers. RT for downward action, LT for breaking action (opposite for lefties).
The pitch type is determined purely by the combination of velocity and break. Be creative...mix and match grips, velocities, and breaks.
IE...
-Fastball is light pressure on the RT (for just a little downward action.) and a hard, fast upswing on the analog.
-Cutter is light pressure on the LT with hard upswing on the analog.
-Sinker is fully depressed RT with a little off the upswing.
-Changeup is no triggers, just a light easy upswing on the analog.
-Curve is full pressure on both triggers, light upswing on the stick.
-Slider is fully depressed LT with a little off the upswing.
Instead of one static pitch type assigned to a button or analog, let the pitches create themselves based on the comination of break and pitch speed. I think that would be pretty organic.
What do you guys think? Would this work? The Shows pitching needs a facelift, and 2k's could also use some tweaks, IMO...
