High heat 2001 was very good (for it's time). Of course it doesn't compare graphically (and "audio-ly") to the modern versions.

The old Earl Weaver Baseball was also very good, great stats based game. Again, it was 2D graphics and 'beeps and boops' for sound.

I haven't played enough of '08 yet to tell, but I think it's 'buggy-ness' is going to relegate it behind MLB '07 for me.

The original Baseball Stars for the NES.
You would get points for your players everytime you won. I would team up with a buddy against another buddy. We'd play each other and alternate wins/losses so we could get our players to be amazing. Then we'd play against the 3rd guy and kill him every game.
Awful I know but we had fun watching him get pissed!!!

The original Ken Griffey Jr. Presents... for the SNES. There's no telling how many games my brother and I played. It was fantastic fun.

MVP '05 on the PC literally looked like a TV broadcast, so it gets the benefit of the doubt.

However, this is by far the best console game ever.

Re: What is the greatest baseball videogame of alltime

I think the question might be too open to answer accurately.

If the question is what's the best baseball game technically in terms of simulation gameplay and realism without any other fluff just pure realistic gameplay then some might say high heat, maybe mvp 05, or mlb 08.

If the question is what baseball game do you think you've ever had the most fun playing because it's something you played as a child or something you think is a classic, or for just pure fun and enjoyment then some might say ASB, MVP or something on the NES, Intellivision or whatever classic baseball game there's been in the last 20 years.

I think what I would like to know is what does everyone think is the best simulation gameplay wise for a baseball game. What is the most realistic in hitting, pitching, fielding, physics and so forth. I think for me it's gotta be mlb08 when you also take into fact the depth of the entire package. The only other one I can think of as far as most simulated accurate gameplay would be High heat 2003.

btw i answered mlb 08 in the poll, it has to be the best baseball game to date, no question.

Yeah, I loved Baseball Stars! Even though it wasn't very realistic, being able to edit your names and stats and having multiple ballparks in Baseball Simulator 1.000 was loads of fun, too!!

I think my first love for a baseball game was the original Hardball! on the Commodore-64. After that I really enjoyed Sporting News Baseball on the C64 and then came the console games. I've actually been in love with the 989 MLB series from the start since it started on the PS1. It wasn't the best game back then, but I enjoyed the batter/pitcher matchup.

                      Thanks,

The greatest? This question has been posted here a number of times now. I don't think you can really compare RBI and The Show. I'm sure I'm in the minority thinking that the Griffey games on the SNES were terrible though.
