Need info from ASB 2004 owners before I purchase

The expansion option has me very intrigued. I will admit the last version I played was the 2nd on the N64 (which I thought was pure crap). I bought a Playstation demo mag to try the ASB 2004 demo. But the options it allow were too limited for me to answer my questions.

1.) It wouldn't let me try the High Heat quadrant batting. Does this work like in HH where you have to aim in one of the nine squares to hit? Does it become too easy when batting like this? Will you still strike out a lot against K'ers like Martinez or Johnson?

2.) While pitching, every pitch was online. If I aim in the corner of the strike zone, it always went to that spot. Is this changed in the full version? If I have a 3-2 count and gun it down the middle, is there a chance the pitcher will still miss the strike zone?

3.) Are there realistic pitch counts? Walk totals? The OS reviewer says the CPU batters are "free swingers." Does that mean the computer barely walks or is easy to strik out often?

4.) Is there a franchise city in North Carolina?

5.) I can buy either PS2 or XBOX. Which is the preferable version?

6.) Are there any glaring errors (such as PS2 High Heat 2 out bug)? Please be honest..... no fanboy stuff if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I want to be a ASB convert but I need some info to alay my fears.

    1) Zone batting is way to easy to hit. Not as easy as "easy" batting, but not as near difficult as with the cursors.

    2) The pitching is the same as it was last year. It is way too easy to hit your marks. On the other hand, if all you do is hit the strike zone, you will get hammered. I almost forgot, when the pitcher gets fatigued he will miss his marks somewhat but not what you would think.

    3) I play on Allstar, and I find that I have realistic pitch counts. Some players are free swingers, but that is how real baseball is. There is a rating on players called patience. If a player has little patience, then they are not going to go deep into counts very often.

    4) Yes, Charlotte.

    5) Xbox has the better graphics, that I know. I don't believe that the gameplay is all that different though. I have not played the Xbox version of the game.

    6) Not sure what the HH 2 out bug is, but I really don't see any substantial errors in the game. Others may, but I don't.

I hope this help's you out.

When you say "too easy to hit" do you mean too easy to get a hit or too easy to make contact?

        Thanks for the info.

One more additional question concerning players:

7.) In Franchise can you rename fake players (like Contreras or Rick Reed..... Scabs and people with MLB experience)? Does the franchise mode use real team rookies or fake ones like in HH?

The Rookies are both real and fake.

Thanks Rag. Can you rename real players who had to be given fake names because of MLBA problems (scabs like Rick Reed who broke the strike line or overseas players like Contreras who hadnt played yet when the rosters were finalized)?

Yeah, all you have to do is go to the edit player thing in roster management, there you can edit players to their likenesses, but i don't think their names will be announced or anything like that.

BTW, it's rage people, not rag.
