Few things I want to add on...
You won't get hammered if you swing pitch down the middle. It's all dependent upon what teh AI allows for you that game. I player about 3 innings one game where all my pitcher were stright down the middle. The CPU will swing at almost everyone but the chances of you getting blistered doesn't increase if you were to pitch on the cornors.
5) Yes there are bugs. I'm not trying to tear this game a new one but you have to understand you will see something funky about once every four games. There are some problems with scoring errors as others have mentioned. An OS staffer sees a baserunner load up where all two players will be on top of each other on a base (not first on a pop-up). I tend to see a lot of errors in the 1b side of things. A few games i've had players get the out at first only to have be safe when the batting screen comes up.
I'm not going to get into the AI flaws. I don't really think they are bugs as much as the AI gets confused. But as for bugs like I said 25% of you games you will see something that just makes you wonder why it's in there.
