Are bases on balls a factor in ASB2004?

Once I saw a computer generated Tom Seaver dragging his back leg on the follow-through of his delivery (or after I saw his Gaylord Perry equivalent playing with the bill of his cap) I found a warm place in my heart for the ASB franchise.

The biggest killer for me last year was the inability to draw walks, or to walk the opposition. I read Rodriguez' review here, and he stated that pitchers are still far, far too accurate (I guess that'd make Rick Ankiel in this game unstoppable, huh?) but has the "pitcher vs. batter" battle gotten a bit closer to the HHB standard? (IMO, the only reason to even look at HHB is the pitcher/batter battle).

Also--anyone see any catch-up logic on display in the game? That one's always a gamebreaker for me...

    Thanks in advance!

Well i have played my first series in the regualr season against the tigers and i got walked 13 times in those games. One game i got walked 8 times.

Also though i haven't really seen any catch up logic. The first game i lost 1-0, 2nd we went into 11th tied 5-5 and i came out winning 9-8. And then i won 4-3 in the last game.

BTW the 9-8 game is where i got walked 8 times

Also though i don't think i have thrown a walk at all so far. And Clemens, AShby, and Sele went 8, 9 and 8 ip respectively

I think it's harder for the CPU to walk than humans. I'm not a patient player so I don't tend to walk. However I'm a very patient pitcher and the walks are low but not impossible. It's just that the CPU tends to swing at anything inside the strike zone on good counts thus making it hard to get to walks.

There's no catch-up logic, but it seems like it, because you may end up slacking off.

I just played the Padres, and after striking someone out, with 2 outs I gave up back-to-back HRs to Phil Nevin and Ryan Klesko. I was leaving all of my pitches high in the strike zone, thinking they would pop up, like the rest of them did...they punished me instead...

I still won the game, 6-5

Hmm I'm going to have to say that we all see things different. A post a while back nailed it right when they said their are times in the game where the CPU becomes unstoppbable.

I first came out in and said there was catch-up logic. I don't think they it's like an arcade game where it's predicatble. But I will say that the CPU can gain an advantage in certain games where it's extremely hard for the CPU to stop.

I really don't think there is any standard catch-up logic involved. I've been in games where it sure seems like the computer would catch up just as soon as i scored, but i've also been in games where i would score plenty, and still be able to shut the computer down. I think what we are seeing as "catch-up logic" is just part of the game of baseball. As a Red Sox fan, i've seen it too many times - we score a bunch of runs, then turn around and give up a bunch. It's just how the game of baseball is.
