    How quickly things change in ASB!

    Ok, so I'm crusing along in the 2nd game of a 3 game series against the A's with my Rangers. After 7 innings I'm up 4-1, Valdes is crusing right along, he's getting tired but I'm thinking he could go 8 innings. I get the bullpen up and going. It all started top of 8. First, Singleton leads off with a double, followed by Hatteburg with a single. I go to my bullpen...brought in Ryan Drese. Tejada doubles, driving in those two runners. Next, Chavez doubles driving in Tejada, and from there they go on to score 6 runs in the 8th, and 5 more in the 9th. Duraza capped it off with a 3 run blast. Bottom of the ninth, Juan Gonzalez goes deep for me but it is too late. Game, Set, Match at The Ballpark.

    I knew I should have pulled Valdes after 7 but everyone makes the mistake in leaving their starter in too long sometimes.

    I was just crusing along, sending them down in order, gottem chasing bad pitches. The all of a sudden, I'm getting my butt kicked. Again, I'm up 4-1 going into the 8th and lose 12-5. My my how quickly things can change.

    ASB=Good game!

    I know you how you feel. The PADRES hit back to back homers on me, so I had to pull my pitcher. I love this game...it's super-realistic...

        Same thing happened to me in Spring Training game today with Valdes...it seemed so much like him last year. Valdes pitched great, 7 innings gave up 7 hits and 1 run. But the score is tied 1-1. In the 8th, I pull him, bring in Van Popple, he retires the side, and we go into extra innings, so I bring in Drese who is my number 5 starter and isn't getting any work in spring due to the off days,...Drese gives up the game winning homerun in the 12th...final score 2-1. Valdes pitches a great game, but gets no run support. Identicle to last year!

            Reading your posts makes me wonder about the come-back logic of this game. I haven't played enough games to have a good feel for this. But do you guys feel that the computer cheats? Do you get scared going into 9th leading by a couple of runs because you just know the computer will come back?

                I do not feel it cheats at all. I've played roughly 30 some games. WOn some, lost some but never felt cheated yet...

                    Actually, in the games that I've been up going to the 9th, I've brought in my closer and he's been successful everytime...no blown saves yet.
                    No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

                        Did you not read the part about leaving your starter in too long. You can actually tell when your starter is losing it and not just from looking at the health meter. That curve ball that you were locating for strikes wherever you wanted earlier in the game, starts to miss. I've noticed in Valdes' previous starts that he wears down in about the 7th inning. I tried to get him the complete game since I was up by 3 runs and cruising. I paid for it.

                        I do not think there is comeback logic. Things like this happen. I DO HAVE THE RANGERS BULLPEN! Notorius for blown saves!

                        Nikeford, since you had it happen to you with Drese, I think he'll be going down to AAA for some work. I may bring Rob Bell up. With the addition of Ben Sheets and Kenny Rogers, that sent Drese and Doug Davis to my LR roles!

                            Agreed. Plus, on top of that, my closer, Danys Baez has only 20 saves. And it's sometime in July, after the All Star Break. Probably July 18, I believe. So, I definitely don't believe there's a such thing as the CPU cheating in ASB 2004 at all.
