The good thing is you can mix and match difficulty levels in this game. Say you're better at pitching than hitting, you can set the cpu's hitting difficulty higher than their pitching difficulty. Or the other way around. What I always do when I come back to this game is start at either normal or the difficulty above it(I believe expert), and go from there and try and find the right difficulty for me.
awesome....thanks man. so, you dont use any lock on at all for hitting? dude, that is suicide for me! i am playin with lock on 2 and i still have issues..lol. and there is no way i can hit without the cursor on....i get murdered without the cursor on! even with the cursor on, hitting is still plenty challenging as hell for me.

thanks for the reply bro....i am going to play a few more games and i think "arrange" the Cubs and get another season going. love this game.

I don't use lock on, but I've played hundreds and hundreds of games in this series. I played with lock on for a while on the original MLB power pros, but I just continually got better with time.

When you say cursor, do you mean the ball cursor? If so, I have that on. I don't see how it'd even be possible to play without it. I've tried and I struck out just about every at bat.

It's a very fun game no doubt. I don't know what it is about this game, but I just have a blast playing it.

yeah man, the ball cursor is definitely on....no question. so listen bro, i managed to "arrange" my Cubbies last night.... got Byrd in the lineup, and snagged a couple players i would love to see in a Cubbie uniform (swisher is one of them- in honor of his ole man, Steve Swisher who used to play for the cubbies in the late 70's)...anyway, i did some swaps for players but those players are still on their original teams....why? example, i picked up Bill Hall and when i played the brewers in my home opener, Bill Hall was on the brewers. how do i get a player and make sure he isnt still on the team i took him from? very confused.

You'd have to make an arrange team for all the teams you removed players from and remove them on the arrange team. This game works differently in how you move players. You don't subtract a player from his team when you add him to yours, you have to go to that team and remove him yourself. Here's an example.

Say you want Swisher(I believe he's originally on the White Sox in this game).

Add him to your cubbies team(which you already did).

Create White Sox arrange team, remove him from White Sox.

You'll have to go through and remove all the players you add if you don't want duplicates. This game is weird in how you move players around.

When you start season, add all the arrange teams you edited over the original team(so the arrange white sox for original white sox, etc).

Yeah, it really sucks. I wish they had a more conventional type movement system, so we could just trade players from team to team, but unfortunitely it doesn't work that way in this game.

The two good things I will say about this system is that it allows you to save your team from your franchise and play with them in exhibition, and if for whatever reason you'd like to have the same player on two teams you can.

Anyone know if you can make a league of completely fictional players on real teams? It's been while since I played and I don't remember if it there was an option to generate names for everyone or not. Also, I forget in franchise mode is there a limitation to how many consecutive seasons you can play?

Nope, you can't just generate random players unfortunately. This would be a perfect game for that feature, but there isn't one.

What you could do is start an expansion team in franchise mode, and you'll have a team full of fake teams. Then you could export that team to arrange mode. Repeat that 29 more times and you have 30 fake teams full of fake players. Then when you start up next franchise mode, you just replace all the teams in the league with all the fake teams from arrange mode.

But most of the players are really bad, since you're team in expansion team is supposed to be bad and an uphill battle. I guess it wouldn't matter too much since the league would be all around the same talent, and you could do it as long as you don't mind that there's not many good players.

You can play up to 10 seasons in franchise.

You can play up to 10 seasons in franchise.
That's what I thought about franchise mode. Not too bad to get all fictional guys in there. 10 seasons is what is really a bummer. Everyone will be starting from scratch so after 10 seasons there would be no HOF'ers or any real career records, only partials. I would probably never play past that anyway, but it's still disappointing.

                    Thanks for the info.

I'm throwing this here so the Bobblehead Pros thread isn't derailed:

I'm still playing it. A few tweaks can make any team can be as good or bad as you want. I started a franchise as the Cubs and have been having a blast. Taking a hatchet to Soriano and reducing Lee and Ramirez slightly while boosting a couple of the minor leaguers to competent but below average players makes the team a blast to play with. A bunch of varied pitchers and a lineup that has a mix of power, speed, and contact ability makes for a well-rounded team. The stock roster has them rated 6th best or so but those ratings aren't based on any compilation of ratings. With lousy defense up the middle and a top-heavy lineup they can be a challenge to win with.
