    Power Pros settings

What settings are you guys using? So far I'm on all-star, full manual hitting, expert pitching, no cursor for cpu pitching, and normal speed pitching. I've lost both games i played as the astros to the mets by a close margin, and lost one as the bosox to the yankees that was close as well.

The settings seem pretty good, but i cant get good wood on a ball hardly ever. Just curious what you guys are using.

I'm not good enough at batting to do full manual. I still have to use the lowest lock on setting if I want to have any success.

Definitely try the lowest lock setting. Chances are you will almost never get a HR or even make great contact on normal batting. If the lowest lock setting gets too easy try upping the pitch speed to fast.

I'm using lock-on 1 but have the AI's pitch cursor off right now. Seems to be leaving me with a reasonable amount of offense.

Well I think I have it just on default. Normal hitting and lock on 2.

What kind of results did you guys get with that after awhile? (default normal settings)

Last year I started out playing with the lock"on" but it became too easy so I went to normal batting and had reasonable stats. This year fired the game up and made the Manny trade to LA in Arrange mode. Again playing with nomal batting. Manny up to bat and pitcher makes a mistake pitch, a question mark appears indicating such, and Manny mashes it over the center field wall. Shows Manny with his arms raised as he trots toward first base. Manny being Manny I suppose but it was great.

If you are new to the series you probably need to start out with lock 1 or 2 and when that becomes too easy switch over to normal which has no lock and you just move the cursor to meet the ball with no assistance. Another tip is when you are comfortable with your batting always use the power swing with every batter. Last year my hitters hit home runs at a reasonable pace but with normal swing you won't see many.

I had the game last year with the same default settings, but for whatever reason just seems I am striking out alot more this year.

Great advice there. I usually go with the power swing early in the count with all batters and only use contact if the pitcher is overpowering me or I've got two strikes on me and a weaker hitter at the plate. You definitely won't see many HRs with the contact swing (though it seems possible if you can pull something) and doubles and triples should be significantly harder to come by as well. It seems like the contact swing is a good way to try to slap a ball through the infield or to loop it into the outfield. To really drive a ball the power swing is the way to go.

Thanks for the tips, I'm gonna give lvl 1 lock on a try today after the 'stros game. Last night I actually cranked a homer off Santana's slurve with Carlos Lee on all-star with no lock on. Its been my best bit of hitting to date. All-star is just tough, but the hits seem realistic, distance wise, if I could only get better wood.

Oh, and it doesnt seem like theres any way to take all the cpu pitch cursors completely off. That would be nice to be able to do, anyone know if theres a way? I've got the cursor off for where the ball is aimed, but not for when the pitch is coming in.

For those of you playing with lock on 1 or 2 what is your CPU pitching level set to?

through my 1st 7 games I have lock on at level 2

aces, and hot pitchers still give me a challenge. I was geting 2 hit shut out by Glavine until I got a pitch I could finally drive and hit it out.

I have everything at normal except for :

                      Human Fielding: semi auto
                      Human Pitching: Expert
Batting Lock on lvl 2 (may go down to level 1 when I get better, or if I see over inflated BA's after 20-30 gms or so.)
                      CPU Hitting: Expert
                      CPU Baserunning: Expert
