Re: MLB Power Pros 2008 Review

I'm sorry, I've never played a PS2 game on my PS3, but two more questions:

    1. How do you know if it's backwards compatible?

    2. How do you save your PS2 stuff on your PS3?

Re: MLB Power Pros 2008 Review

I just came across another review for this game -- on GamesRadar. They sixed it

For laughs, go to the Wii reviews section and look at some of the games with higher ratings. Kung Fu Panda?!? The Incredible Hulk? Are you kidding me?

I can see that it might not be everyone's thing, but they're recommending slapped-together movie spinoffs above MLBPP? Probably safe to unbookmark them.

          1. You need either a launch unit (20 gb or 60 gb) or the 80 gb unit. 40 gb PS3s don't support PS2 BC.

          2. You create a virtual PS2 memory card on your hard drive, it's pretty easy to do via the PS3 menu. If you have a PS2 memory card, you'll need an adapter to copy it over to your PS3.

I bought a Wii again, just for this game alone. Great review Matthew! Spot on with all the pros and cons of this game.

Really wish this game was available for 360 (or even Gamecube!). Sounds great.

I'm hoping for a current gen version next year with slightly more realistic looking crowds (no flat texture and real number of rows of seating) and variable attendance.

Playstation Magazine only gave the game 2 1/2 stars. And I'm pretty sure Game Informer didn't give it a good rating either. It totally baffles me too because usually these magazines are geared toward the more casual gamer when it comes to sports games. I don't know how you can get more casual the the look of PP.

I love the last PP and love this one too. The only baseball game better is MLB08 The Show for ps3.

That sticks out horribly. I think the stadiums actually look pretty good for what they are but on shots down the line it's weird seeing what looks like wallpaper over the stands. Obviously a minor complaint but every time I see it I cringe a little.

I would love to see a graphically updated sim version that cometes with MLB: The Show going forward. I think they have a good base to build off of with the play mechanics. I thought MLB 2K8 was pretty lackluster too. The Show is light years ahead of the main 2K game right now.

Konami already has that, it's called PYS.

I doubt 2K would ever approve of them making a MLB version of that though, unless they can their own MLB series.

I did an in-depth review of this game over on MLBPPworld.com with a lot of detailed comparisons between 2007 and 2008 if anyone is on the fence about whether to get this - http://www.mlbppworld.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=889
