Re: Help me decide please... Mogul or OOTP?

I actually started with Baseball Mogul about April of last year. I played it for about a month, but I was getting mad because my box scores at the end of the game never worked (using Vista on my laptop). It was like the Mod's there didn't give a rats behind about its users and the problems. Everytime I turned around, there seemed to be some sort of bug they were trying to fix. The problem was, half the time they didn't know how to fix it. So finally I got sick of waiting and tried OOTP9. I am pretty sure my eyes popped out of my head in excitment. This game is the sickest baseball sim EVER. Its so deep, that you can pretty much do anything. They have amazing mod's, as Marcus is the best around. I play OOTP9 usually every night. I can't wait till 10 is released.

Hopefully OOTP 10 has a preorder special like they usually do.

It can be very overwhelming for a first time user. I remember first playing OOTP3 a few years back and feeling lost.

The best thing to do is to just check out things a little at a time. You'll eventually discover which screens you should frequent the most, and a lot of the time, you'll have your own way to play and some things just won't matter to you.

It's amazing how exciting a text-sim can be. Playing with your thumbs is fun, but you discover how overrated it really can be.

Cosign what everyone else has said. OOTP and it's not even close.

I think I'm going to purchase OOTP 9. Loved the demo. I go back to OOTP 6, but I was unimpressed with the releases after 6.5. I spent about 4 or 5 years in OOTP 6.5 online leagues. I just need to get my fix and can't wait for 10. I might even have to join another league.

I still think 6.5 is their best version. The ones after just got too complex and became more of a chore to play. They built the game to cater to a handful of players who wanted ridiculously customization. This unfortunately made it real tough to have real life MLB simulations.

Maybe they go back to the style that was built for MLB style players, but I think some of the louder voices on their board have them by the nuts.

So when does OOTP 10 come out? If FOM is a disappointment, and I decide I need a deep baseball sim, what kind of timeline are we looking at for version 10? Someone said earlier, around opening day I think. I assume that means I should wait on OOTP 10 instead of buying OOTP 9 if I decide to go with the text sim this year instead of FOM?

I've played past versions of OOTP, loved them, but reading the features for OOTP 9 has me excited about what 9 is and what 10 might be.

Hmm, OOTP was never meant to be a MLB simulation. It was always designed to simulate baseball and it's primary market has always been historical and fantasy players.

They've stated countless times on the board that if you want an MLB simulation then DMB would be a better choice.
