Would a team aspect (like NHL's EASHL) work with a baseball game?

Just wondering what people would think of this.

After playing EA's NHL09 and loving the Online Team Play aspect....would it work in a baseball game? I realize that probably for most people, playing a baseball video game as a center fielder or a first basemen might be too slow for them, but I'd think it could work.

Anyone else? Any ideas on what you'd like to see to help it work? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't 2K and VC already have this in place for NBA2K9...maybe this could be something to consider for MLB2K10???

I think it could work and be fun. The only thing that concerns me is what you brought up, it might be a little slow for some people.

If they implimented an "Idle" system, where if the person who was controlling 2B fell asleep or went away, that the computer took over til he came back, I could see it working out.

Only reason I would want an Idle system is say someone does fall asleep or get into a real-life conversation or something with someone and forgets they are playing that the computer would help stop from giving up a game winnning error at that position.

I could see this mode being a blast, however, if you have the right teamates.

I think for those online players who are REALLY into the sport it could. I doubt it would be pushed though, as I don't see the bulk of the videogame fanbase wanting to spend a good deal of their time watching things happen.

Gotta remember in the games that do it, the play is dynamic even for those not directly involved in a given play.

I used to play UBO, which for those who haven't played was a MMO baseball game. It was actually a lot of fun and I can't remember there being a time I was bored playing it. I think the best part of it was that it was only 3 innings per game and the computer never hit, so a human was always up. It would be a very cool feature if you could take your Show character online and do this.

Yea if UBO type play was introduced into the show's engine I would buy it right now.

I would absolutely love a feature such as this!

i think it would really make the player feel the sort of intensity in a ball game...i.e: being the last batter in the bottom of the 9th, man on 3rd, 2 outs, down by a run. lots of pressure right there!

              This would be awesome providing:
*It had voice chat for when you are close to another player...it'd be amazing to be say a 2B talking trash to the baserunner...OR to be in CF talking with the left fielder/calling for the ball.
AND being on the bench just shooting the breeze with teamates while waiting to bat.
It was like EASHL in that you create yourself and play in a team as yourself and are constantly rated on positioning and teamwork...unlike FIFA 09 where in BAPO half the people who play CB just dont defend.
I would be addicted to it if I got into a team of good guys who I got on well with and who new how to play baseball.

Ha never mind. They shut it down:

I guess it is a re-branded version of UBO

Given how horrid UBO was, I'm thinking it'd be just as bad. Being an MMO transfers well to hockey or basketball because you're always in the game, always moving, always trying to get open, etc.

With baseball there's a whole lot of hurry up and wait. Don't get me wrong, I love playing ball in real life, I just really don't see it transferring well to an online experience.

And from having played UBO, I can say with certainty that the only foray into MMO baseball was simply miserable to play. I know there are a handful (and that's being generous) of diehard former UBO/RBO players out there, but everything about the game was truly awful.

edit: Oh, and god help us all if 2K tries to implement that. If anyone's capable of making UBO/RBO look good, it's 2K.
