Which game will let me do this?

Hi all, I'm a newcomer to these boards and have played card based baseball games for years (APBA, IBL) but haven't had much experience with console/PC games. Basically, I'm wondering which game would allow me to do the following:

• run a fantasy draft from a pool of current MLB players
• create a customized 10 team league
• I control the draft for all 10 teams
• create a season schedule and playoff format for the 10 teams
• manage each game of the season (ie manage only - set lineups, decide when to steal, bunt etc)
• track stats for all players/teams (of course)

Not so concerned with the GM side of things such as minor leagues, free agent signings etc, although I'd like to get into that at some point just want to try one season for now.
I want to try drafting 2 divisions of 5 teams: 1 in each league for speed, defense, pitching, power hitters, and hitters for avg ie a "pitching" team would draft all the best pitchers with it's initial draft picks, a "speed" team would take the best base stealers etc.. I've done this with the card based games and always enjoyed watching the results unfold.

Can anyone tell me if a game like MLB 09: The Show would work or am I better to get an indepth sim like OOTP? Would prefer a PS3 solution but suspect I'll need a PC based game for what I'm looking for. Any advice appreciated!

high heat 2k3 was the last on the field playable game that let you do a fantasy draft and custom leagues, but i;m not sure about selecting the other teams players. i don't think the manager mode is that great though, so you probably want to stick with a text sim.

If you could live without graphics...OOTP.
Not even close in regards to what you're looking for...with anything else.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check out OOTP. It seems like the ultimate package but probably does way more than I need it to. I was thinking that Diamond Mind might be a possibility as well, anyone have any experience with it?

I'm a fan of OOTP and Baseball Mogul. But OOTP is considered the pinnacle product by many. You can download the demo and give it try and see how you like it.

It sounds like you're obviously a guy who's into the simulation end of baseball games. I'd give The Show a look in that case. They're big on detail, namely anything managerial off the field. and at the end of the day, you have a great game you can play on the field too.

look into the road to the show feature too.
