    Question about OOTP9 rosters...

Hey guys. I believe I read that OOTP9 comes with complete MLB rosters. I was wondering, does that include the minor leagues as well? Also, are there updated rosters for the 2009 MLB season out there anywhere, or is everyone else just waiting for OOTP10? Thanks guys.

    Re: Question about OOTP9 rosters...

The MLB Rosters with OOTP 9 are not minor league complete. It includes most of the well-known top prospects per organization, but it does not include every minor leaguer for every level.

That being said, there is an updated roster with transactions as of March.

FYI, there is a roster team developing a complete MLB roster set that includes full minors across the entire league for OOTP 10.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

In that case, if it's not too far away, i'll probably just wait for OOTP10. I was wondering however, after reading some opinions on OOTP9, some think that it's more for fantasy or classic players, and not true MLB sim players. Is this true? I'd have to rethink a purchase if that was the case, and unfortunately have to stick with Mogul for my text sim baseball fix. It's not that it's a bad game, it's just lacking depth, which I am in hopes OOTP provides for MLB sim players.

        Re: Question about OOTP9 rosters...

The common statement is that OOTP is, traditionally, the best baseball text sim, meaning not MLB specifically.

With some of the new features finally trickling into the realm of public knowledge, there is hope that OOTP edges closer to nailing more of each and every represented league (including MLB).

I play with the MLB rosters, and I find that OOTP 9 does a great job when trying to play as the current MLB teams. I don't think you'll find a better text sim for baseball, period. Atleast until OOTP 10 is released.

It does well with MLB you just need to approach it with an open mind. The game doesn't know player names it only knows ratings. You might see the AI do some things that might seem a little wacky if it happened in real life. Then again, there are plenty of GM's in MLB who do things that seem a little wacky as well.
