    ASBB: The one left standing

I owned WSBB,MVP,HH and ASBB this year.
The first to go was HH. Just could not get past the graphics and/or batting animations. But the main killer for me in HH was the non ability to save mere than one season, roster, settings etc,, file at a time. No excuse for this(or the graphics). In any case it was very fun at all.

Next to go was WSBB. Yes it has some of the best visuals but fell short of actually feeling like I was playing a good game of baseball. Some things that need taken care of next year are the fast swings, player scaling and a zone type of hitting or a system like MVP. To me the pitcher/batter interface was the weakest part of the game, and being a crucial part of a game of baseball it hurt the game a good bit.

So rthat leaves MVP and ASBB.
Flat out MVP is hands down the winner for 2 player games, IMO. It is a blast to play with a friend.

So now we have ASBB. After buying the game to hold me over until the rest were released I returned it. Well obviously I re-purchased it. The game does have it's own faults: Graphics could use some life, vacuum gloves still are ther but not nearly as bad as last year and there are some gameplay glitches. Example: I had bases loaded with 2 outs and my next batter popped up to third baseman. The 3rd baseman dropped the ball and 2 runs scored...Nope it was rules a foul ball even thiough it hit about 5 feet fair and never rolled foul. In fact in never rolled at all.
However with these problems ASBB (after getting the hitting down) plays a very good game of ball. I actually feel like I accomplished something when I get a hit etc...

I am currently in spring training with 2 games left before the start of season. I created myself as a pitcher and will only play the games I pitch. So far I have been beaten up slightly in spring training. Pitching with no cursor is an art... I did learn that it's better to work a corner and walk someone rather than to just throw a strike to avoid a walk. I gave up some serious long balls..
Hopefully the season will work out for me and I won't have to demote myself
Anyways I just wanted to say that I have taken my time playing all the games and found the one game that truly gives me tha baseball experience, along with the feeling that I have control over the outcome. ASBB

Thanks. I too have ASBB. I also bought it to "get me over until the rest come out". I like the fact that you can create your own franchise. I rented WSB but I kept being drawn back to All-Star. I am thinking about getting MVP for 2 player games. I would play 2 player on All-Star, but my brothers are video game dinosaurs who are used to joy sticks and orange buttons to do all their movements.....they need something simple.

If I were you, I wouldnt look towards MVP for 2 player games. You can only play a 2 player game in Exhibition mode. You cant play one in Season or Franchise. How it can be called the "best" 2 player game is beyond me. ANY of the other games are better than MVP for 2 player gameplay.

I own both ASB and Slugfest. Slugfest is unrealistic at best but is funny and entertaining. I think it has better multipayer than MVP IMHO.

Yea ASb is honestly the best game, I played HH, and it just wasn't doing it for me....everyone has a two handed swing follow through, the 3rd out run scored problem just pisses me off, and the fact that I have to tinker with sliders to make the game right erks me. MVP has something goign with that pitching interface, I love it, but the game has its rookie flaws, and I'm sure they'll get cleaned up over the next year or two.
WSB, its a sega game, I hate sega games, never played it, but I did see a commercial for it, and that was enough proof for me not to buy it. I've only owned ASB the last 2 years, but hands down its the best game I've seen. It actually has what should be in a baseball franchise, options, progression, rule 5 draft, free agent rules, trading rules, trading blocks, budgets, and great gameplay. Yea it may have a glitch every now and then, but I have never seen anything that I can say that happens all the time, or that really screwed me over. Even the best football game, Madden, has it's moment at times, like a freeze, or a ball goes through the hands....well ASB does too at times, but seems pretty solid, I can only imagine what next year's could look like.
Winner, ASB.....but about time they started getting baseball right!

I bought ASB before I rented WSB and I love ASB so when I popped in WSB I was amazed at the graphics et al but the gameplay just didn't do it for me. I was pretty disappointed because I thought WSB would be the best game this yr but it wasn't.

Oh well i'm addicted to ASB so i've got a baseball game for the whole summer
