I think for the most part they did a fantastic job with the announcing, but in situations like that one they whiffed. Also they should get rid of the stupid HR phrases they have.

ya, i've got no problem w/ the play by play, it's the comentary that bothers me.
the hr phrases, i didn't hear many different ones untill I played the hr derby right before the all star game. the one that had me rolling was, "This one's going to make like a baby and head out!"
My wife said, "did that just say what I think it said?"

My personal pet peve for lyons would have to be when he is talking about the mop-up pitcher and how he just has to stay out there and get crushed. He just fumbles all over those lines about half way through it. I am suprised that they let that be in the final version. I'm sure they had time for another take.

Lyons commentary does'nt bother as much as the fact that Thom Brenneman does not pronounce the letter S .

I've had him say that they're jsut going to talk abotu where they're going to dinner and the blond over the dugout during mound visits when my pitcher had just given up 5+ runs.

I think Lyons runs his mouth too much this year. It was nicer last year when he was just a Colour Commentator now it's like he controls everything.

I actually don't mind that because it seems more like a live broadcast when not everything sounds scripted.

For the most part, I like the commentary. He rags on you when you make a dumb play, or wuss out on a steal. The homerun calls are pretty bad though.
