Why I am switching from WSB to High Heat

I am not a High Heat fanboy. I have been playing WSB for the Xbox constantly since it's release. Before its release, I had been playing High Heat for the Xbox for a brief time. I have experience with both series over the past several years. I have had the most fun with WSB as with any sports game ever, but I'm switching back to High Heat and here is why.

Challenge. The fact is that hitting in WSB has become too easy for me. No matter what slider settings or options. For a while I was challenged, but now, even though I'm not the best at pitching, I am winning too often and scoring too many runs even with an average team. The problem is with the pitching AI but I'm no expert on how to make the CPU pitch more like humans. I'm not even usually very good with video games.

The poor baserunning AI. The worst thing about WSB. This has a major impact on how competitive and realistic CPU teams are. The result is the cpu will too often have a lot of hits against me, but not many runs to show for it.

So, I'm going back to High Heat. I don't like the graphics and presentation, but it provides more than enough of a challenge and I don't feel as if I'm cheating the computer. If I get tired of High Heat, I won't be playing any baseball games for a while unless I give MVP or Inside Pitch a shot.

Well, it's your call, but let me say I lost my last three games with scores out 13-8, 5-2 and 6-5... sometimes I can hit, sometimes I can't... I seriously don't think you upped the level to the max cause this game is NOT that easy to hit off of. At least not in my opinion.

In response to the poor baserunning....I don't think there is a problem per se. I have been in games where the computer doesn't take home. Those are the times when the ball is hit to the left fielder and it takes one hop. But more often than not, the computer takes home, from first, on a single or double to the right fielder or if they runner is fast. They play smart and run smart. Not everyone is going to take home.

I can't believe that anyone would think that the baserunning AI in WSB is even as smart or aggressive as the least aggressive major league team. It's not just going home, it's situational hitting. When a ball is hit to the right side, the cpu hardly ever goes to third. I have seen the results of this myself, when the CPU constantly has 10 hits but 2 runs in a game. And it's not because I pitch better with men in scoring position.

The way to solve that problem is by increasing the SF slider up from 40. It makes the CPU baserunning more aggressive.

Yes, but how many men do they LOB because they're getting hits with two outs, etc.

Try this to test the base running, to me, this really shows that they are aggressive. If someone fast on the computer gets a hit to left field. throw the ball to first base from left field. They will take second. I have done this many times, and have come close to catching them, but never have. To me, that is VERY aggressive, as that would never happen in real life!

I don't see how anyone could disagree with the original post.

He's exactly right when he says the CPU isn't aggresive enough. I don't need to re-state all of his examples, but I found every one of them to be true as well.

To me, this doesn't ruin the game, as I love pretty much everything else about it.

If anything, it will (as he mentioned) lead to high CPU hit totals but a low amount of runs scored.

Actually, I forgot to mention that I only agree with his baserunning observations.

The challenge of the hitting is perfect IMO.
