MLB, don't copy my SF Giants!!!!
Ever since the giants' pac-bell park opened everyone got jealous and started making one of their own. I know that the Giants are powerful, and win all the time, and that they're unstoppable, but why does everyone have to make a Pac-Bell park?

Wow... and RUMOR has it the other 29 teams have the audacity to serve hot dogs in their concession stands and that when a pitcher throws three strikes the batter is out.
Blasphemy

Re: MLB, don\'t copy my SF Giants!!!!
I have been to both Pac Bell and PNC park. And although I rate Pac Bell as one of the nicest parks I have ever been too, both my friends and I prefered PNC park over Pac Bell hands down.
Only downfall for PNC Park is that it is in Pittsburgh.

Re: MLB, don\'t copy my SF Giants!!!!
Lyricist - You have to be kidding.... The idea behind PNC and Heinz field and the entire north shore area have been in the works for years. It just took a while for it to happen because taxpayers were against a new ballpark. Plus PNC's much better!
Bkrich - What's wrong with Pittsburgh? I've lived in a couple places during my life and have found PGH to be one of my favorite places to live. Although I don't live downtown. PGH's actually becoming quite a renaissance for technology. Now if the Pirates could get going in the next few years, then I'd be real happy!Comment

I don't know. I don't like the weather there. It seemed like a depressing place to be. Plus when industrial areas start to decay, it really looks ugly. I did like all the hills, and all the water ways there. Keep in mind I have only been there a few times. And I would agree with you, I enjoyed PNC much more than I have enjoyed Pac Bell park.

Pac-Bell Park was in Hardball 6 I remember, and that game was released in like 1996 I think. I dunno about the designs of the other parks if they were around back then.Comment

BK - Yeah, you do have a point with the weather. It's pretty humid and with humidity rain soon follows. Since the 70's they've been trying to renovate much of the city because of all the steel mills and the dirt they caused. It's gotten better, but there are places downtown that you don't want to go.
Matrix - Hmm, I didn't realize that Pac Bell was in the works back in 96. I'm not sure when the design of PNC came about, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't as early as 96. It took a while because there was a vote to increase the taxes in Allegheny county to build a new park. The citizens voted no, but it still happened. I guess they didn't care too much about what the citizens of Allegheny County thought!!Comment

Re: MLB, don\'t copy my SF Giants!!!!
Don't be jealous, because the giants did have the idea first. I remember that the giants had a calender way back, and every day they would change it (the number of days left for pac-bell park) and it was like 2,865 days left, when it started. and i'm talking about the originality of the park, not what city has the best temperature, or the best bars, resteraunts, or the best altittude/location.Comment

Re: MLB, don\'t copy my SF Giants!!!!
What idea did they have first? Doesn't take a super genius to figure out if you are on a large body of water that it might be cool to build the stadium there. Other new stadiums with retro feel , like Baltimores and Clevelands were up way before SF. I am just curious what you are so proud about. Nothing agains SF or you, just curious where you are going with this.Comment

Re: MLB, don\'t copy my SF Giants!!!!
What exactly is so original about Pac Bell park?
Joeboo you are right. The part of Pitt down by the stadium they did very nice. WE stayed at the Hilton Towers down there, nice area. And after the game we hit Dave and Busters and had a great time. Pitt is definitely a fun baseball trip.

It was the first park with a design where you can hit a HR into the bay/river/ocean/lake.Comment

I live in Seattle, I think maybe the Mariners should get the first under-water infield. Then all grounders could land in the Sound...that'd show those Giants!Comment
