Re: ASB 2005 Franchise Mode vs The Show 09 Franchise Mode

I truly believe that All-Star 2005's franchise was much better. If I remember correctly, they didnt have that DL glitch that 09 the show has which is a game killer for me.

All Star also had a much better Rule 5. Too many top prospects in the show are exposed (i.e. Matt Wieters) and just doesn't add any fun to it. In All-Star most of the players are D- and some of those would turn out to be so-so players which is typically the rule (Soria and a few others are the exception to the rule). I just liked everything about it except the point system. Had they used $$$ I'm pretty sure this game would still be played today, even with the absense of sliders. Also, Expansion mode was a thing of beauty. It was amazingly fun to build a team from the ground up and watching them become competitive within a few years with the right roster moves. I remember playing as the Alaska Belugas and making the playoff in my 4th year because I signed an ace, a 25 HR bat, and an elite closer.

I'm a big time ASB 2005 franchise lover. Even though I know the gameplay has its warts I still love it.

does anyone still play this game online? send me a friend request to Cyphre316 (Xbox Live Gamertag) The only game I think is better than ASB05 is ProYakyu Spirits (Japanese).

I still love ASB and try to find poeple to play online; let me know if interested.

Man, this is tough to answer.
Overall experience, ASB no question. Still the most realistic franchise I've ever played. But when you toss the actual gameplay into the equation, The Show is much better in that area.

IMO, if you like to play GM for hours on end and sim a lot, ASB. If you like to play most of your games and just dabble at being GM, then The Show.

ASB was my favorite basaball game. To this day, it's still the best and most representive of a true franchise mode. It had the following:

            Expansion Draft
            Rule V Draft
            Player Options
            Homerun Derby
            Futures Game
10/5 Rights for Players. Basically a player could refuse a trade if he played 10 years in the league and 5 years with the same team.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....
