Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread
My impressions after about 20 games:
Positives:
- Excellent strategy for a baseball "Arcade" game. When do you spend turbo? When do you try to go for a players hot zone? Do you use your big slam now or hold off until you get runners on or get two outs? I've had all sorts of games, from 10-9 slugfests to 2-1 pitching duels.
- Graphics look better than 2k9 by a long shot, stadium and player models
- Season mode. With 5 innings, I can get a full game in under 20 minutes.
- Trade feature mini games in season mode. When you want to trade for a player, you first have to have enough trade points and you have to win a mini-game. I've seen three so far (memory match, plinko, and a slot machine) Don't know how many there is. I try to do trades just to play these games.
- Fielding mini games. Legendary catches. You can catch a foul ball by balancing a ball on a tetter totter. You can jump on top of the dugout by pushing a button combo. Huge variety of mini games.
- Home run pinball. Smashing things with baseballs is always fun!
- Become a legend mode lets you play against cooperstown hall of famers. Seeing and playing against Ozzie Smith, Brooks Robinson, Ryne Sandberg, Dave Winfield is really fun. It's a great surprise to see who comes up against you for the first time. Lots of players you forgot about. (Mike Scott of the Astros comes to mind)
Negatives:
- Only one season (162 games in season mode)
- Become a legend makes you unlock cities one by one and some of the challenges are monotonous when you play them over and over again just to get to the next city.
Reminds me of a Next Gen MLB Power Pros if you liked that game, you should pick this one up.Comment

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread
I spent a good amount of time with this over the weekend. I am pretty much blown away by how much fun this is.
I've spent an endless number of years hoping to find the "perfect" baseball game. 09 The Show is getting very, very close. Having said that, the Bigs is what it is...and boy is it good.
I haven't played on online, but have gone head 2 head with another player in the same room. Very intense. Very challenging. And again, great fun.
Highly recommended.Comment

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread
I got this and anyone regardless of whether they like baseball or not has got to consider buying The Bigs 2. I've just started "Become a Legend" mode and just got out of Mexico and am in the MLB now. Even though it's arcade it does have some strategy and it's very addicting to play. The graphics are amazing and the stadiums look better than the ones in MLB 2K9. Gameplay is fun and this is one game I won't be putting down for a long time.
My only complaints are the rosters are kinda outdated and some trades that happened a month before release aren't in the game, but a little roster editing should take care of thatMy other complaint is the alternate uniforms are just throwbacks not true alternates. This really sucks for me as a Braves fan because we wear our blue away alternate uniform almost exclusively, but again this isn't a game changer and even though it would have been nice to have these in the rest of the game makes up for it.
Full review later, but as of now I give it a 9 out of a 10Comment

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread
This game is turning out to be a big pos. Forget about winning in the Cooperstown games. The players catch 99.9 percent of all balls hit. The cpu has continuous turbo. Total b.s. I played on the easy difficulty and lost 6-4 after being up 4-1 in the 4th. Bull****. Don't waste your time.Comment

Re: The Bigs 2 Impressions Thread
Started a Season as well as Legacy mode. For the Season I picked San Fran and am 6-4 on Medium difficulty. It's a lot of fun. Some games I put up 5-6 runs, others I get 2 hits. Good variety keeps it interesting.
For Legacy mode I was traded to the Philly's (I think everyone is) but went back to the Angels where I have Lincecum and Ichiro.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment
