I started a 20-team game with two leagues and two divisions per league. All of the teams are smaller cities around the United States, like Boise, Modesto, Norfolk, Syracuse, Wichita, Corpus Christi, Salem, Portland, and--my team--Helena. Some are obvious bigger than others, but the point is there are no Philadelphias or Chicagos or New Yorks or L.A.s or even Pittsburghs or Clevelands, etc.
I've already started the game, but that doesn't mean I can't change the division and league names. As they sit right now, the United League has the George Washington division and the Thomas Jefferson division, and the National League has the Abraham Lincoln Division and the Bill Clinton Division (it's funny to me).
I don't want the names to have anything that has to do with geography because I want to be able to re-align the teams at the end of each offseason to make sure the best teams have the best shot at making the playoffs since I have no wildcards. In other words, I don't want an AL East situation happening, so I'd want to be able to separate the Yankees and Redsox or Rays.
Any suggestions?
As I was writing this, I was thinking maybe classic player names... Jackie Robinson Division, Babe Ruth Division, Lou Gherig Division, Stan Musial Division (he grew up near my home town, so I'd probably include him), etc. But I wouldn't know what to call the leagues then.
Any other good ideas? I need two leagues and four divisions.
Thanks!
