Got my copy of PYS 2010 about two weeks ago, but I haven't had time to play it much. Didn't start a season yet, but I hit my first homerun in an exhibition game last night. Well, that's not entirely true. I did hit a couple of homeruns when I first got the game, but that was on the default difficulty settings. Since bumping up the difficulty, I've been having a heck of a time getting hits. But that homer last night was so satisfying.

I am absolutely in love with this game. I've been a huge fan of The Show for the past few years, but I can't even touch that game anymore, now that I have PYS.

Re: pys season and game stories

I was playing 'Field Play' and selected to be the left fielder. The last two games I played I contributed absolutely nothing to the team as I went 0 for 9. This time though I got some solid hacks - I hit a double and scored a run, had an RBI single, drew a walk and sacrificed to move a man up.

It was the bottom of the 9th inning and we're up 5-2 and I'm feeling good about myself. I was the ultimate team player today and while standing there in left field watching the 9th inning unfold I'm thinking about the cheesiest canned lines I'd say to the press if this were real life.

"I'm just out here trying to make contact and was lucky enough to get a couple hits. Fortunately I was able to help out the team today."

      or this...

"I had a pretty good day today but the pitching was outstanding and the team rallied and got us the win."

So while I'm thinking about all this BS stuff I'm watching the action unfold. Our pitcher gave up a walk, then a flyball to right, then a strike-out. Then came a single and another walk. Then big Alex Ramirex steps up to the plate (a right handed power pull hitter and I'm standing in left field!) My hands are getting sweaty because my pitcher is having a friggin' melt-down and if he shoots one in the gap and I mess up it's going to be a tie game. So I'm thinking just don't let the guy on first score if all hell breaks loose.

Two pitches later he smashes one deep to left field I run back, back, back to the wall, but it's too high and I watch it sail right over my head for a grand slam! Wow, I felt like Brian Downing in the 1986 game 5 ALCS. Helpless feeling and my best loss ever in a baseball videogame. And the best thing is that miracle moments in this game are rare, so it was truly a sweet and special loss.
