Version 16 is the latest. It includes the 2010 rosters/ratings. You can also buy other seasons separately. The 2010 roster/ratings will only work with V16. Keep in mind this is a text sim. The presentation is barebones. This is NOTHING like a console game like The Show. If you are into stats, and think like an MLB manager, you will enjoy it. The results are realistic, and the stats package built into the engine is deep and detailed.

The board game is what the PC game is based on. If you have the patience to flip through charts, keep your own score sheet, and play with dice and cards instead of a controller, you should like it. Strat is sort of the Dungeons and Dragons of sports board games. The board game has evolved over the last 50 years. The range of the average player is probably 35-60 yrs old. Most Strat-O-Matic fanatics are really critical of console gaming in general. The board game is a great way to unplug, without completely turning off your brain. Check it out, and decide for yourself!!!

There is a function that allows you to create a schedule. It is pretty detailed. The smaller the league, and the shorter the schedule, the better. Eight team leagues are good. Playing a third or a fourth of a normal season is a good way to get started. If you have too many teams or too long of a schedule, it will take you forever and you will get burned out. Most guys, if they do tackle a schedule, will manually play one team, then let the CPU autoplay the rest of the games. You can take it a day at a time.

There is quite a bit of flexibility in the PC game. The best thing for you to do is search through the Help file. The game is deep, there is a lot to learn, but the Help file is well written.
