Strat on PC>any other baseball game on PS3

While Strat cannot compete with The Show or MLB2k presentation-wise, I am playing it more than any console game. This could be console burnout. This could be a search for sim over eye candy. Is there anyone else out there who is playing V16 of Strat as much or more than the console baseball games?

I've almost bought Strat a few times now.. because I've gotten sick of OOTP lately. But when you buy Strat they ship you the game right? Or is it a download? I'd rather download it then wait for it to be mailed to me.

No digital download of Strat yet. Shipping should be fairly quick. The only time they get backed up is right around the initial release of the game's latest version. I've never tried OOTP. The only others I've tried are Dynasty League and the old Pursue the Pennant board game. Strat looks low tech, but its gameplay engine is high sim. Lefty-righty splits matter. Managerial strategy is important. Ballpark factors affect the results. The ratings of defense, baserunning, and stealing all are concise and accurate.

I've playedthe board version of apba and the online strat o matic game, but never the pc version. I think I will bite the bullet and buy it though. Only negative is having to buy individual seasons, ill just get 2010 to start probably.

I am curious though... did you buy the card images? If i buy the new V16 with images, and down the road buy another season will they have images? Kind of crazy that it's $22 to buy a season disk...

I've got card image. It is a one shot deal when you first purchase the game. It works for every season you buy.

If you're looking for a good PC baseball game might I recommend PureSim Baseball 4? We just released it today, its digital download, its under $30 and there's no season disks required. There's even a tru-life transaction mode to make transactions happen just as they did from 1920-2010 and it ships with 2011 rosters as well.

The game has a strong AI and incredible statistical accuracy and there's a free playable "lite" version of the game too if you just want to try before you buy. All the details are available at our website - Wolverine Studios

I think I bought the first version of Pure Sim... not sure if it was done by Wolverine at the time...

I may look into it, as I've grown tired of OOTP. With that being said, it's still a different type of experience from Strat and APBA as they are played with the/card system rather then a complete simulation system.

I'll jump on the site for puresim now and do some reading. I did see the new feature with trades, sounds interesting.

Yeah we have only recently acquired PureSim under our umbrella. PureSim 4 is a totally different experience than it was back in the early days of its existence. Like I said, we even have a "lite" version of the game you can play for free and decide if you like the game enough to purchase it.

Downloaded the lite version before work but didn't have much gtime to mess around with it. You can't actually manage the games with the trial version can you?

No the free lite mode lets you play as GM only - its meant as an actual free version of the game that does not end on a time basis like a demo - it only ends your game if you do not meet the challenge score (ie if you lose). I do not know if the developer plans on offering a "demo" of the game as well that would end at a certain point but allow you to see other features. I can suggest it to him though.

Screw it, I need something new, I'll buy it. What do you do for the company? I'm always interested when someone from the inside jumps into a forum to plug their product. Not in a negative way, I'm just a business/marketing student lol.

What you guys should really do is offer some type of membership or yearly rate to entice people to pick up all of your products if they release yearly or every other year. $30 for PS4, $40 for Faceoff, and then $35 for Pro BBall and $30 for College bball. The baseball and hockey are both major interests of mine, but if you guys rolled the 2 bball games in at a discount I'd probably spring for those too (provided that I end up enjoying your products).

See what I mean? These damn mid-terms have me thinking up this kind of stuff all the time haha.

$40 seems steep for the hockey game though, I haven't found a hockey game to play since East Side was axed Actually come to think of it I'm probably more interested in the hockey game then baseball lol sell me on that one too! PM me if you want to make another sale without us hijacking this thread anymore.

I'm the owner/founder of the company as well as the developer of the basketball and golf titles. I'm also the webmaster, PR director, head of marketing etc...we've got a couple of guys who more or less volunteer their time to help on our forums, test games, write huge manuals and then there's a couple of developers who make games. All of us do it as a second job - well at least until the OS community goes nuts over our games and we start selling thousands

We did bundle the first versions of both our basketball games (especially since you can transfer players from the college game to the pro one) and we will probably do the same when the second college game is actually done - right now its just in beta and we're taking pre-orders and allowing those who pre-order to download and play the betas.

One note on the hockey game is that in its current state is just a replay sim. Unlike our other games it does not have a career mode aspect to it. The developer is working on adding that for a future version but really the game started off as a card game and then evolved into basically a computer version of the card game built for online league play or single season replay. If that's your thing then check it out - just wanted you to know ahead of time that its not exactly like EHM (yet anyway)

Gary I did check the site out last night after work a bit more and read up on the products. Definitely going to keep my eye on the hockey game and at next release when theres a more of a single player aspect to it I'll pick it up. I'll have to sign up for your forums over there in a few days when I have a bit more time.
