    PYS 2011 - Pitching Tips

I know I need to get better at pitching. Muka mentioned on his board a D (stuff or control) pitch is a good one. What % are most people nailing the release and getting the smaller ball? E/F's I am rarely using unless I need their pitch speed to fool the hitter. The CPU so far on normal has murdered my mistakes for HR lol.

Am I also understanding that Normal release point where you are aiming is where the ball ends up versus Real release is more like the show and is where the ball initially goes?
Thank you to all the men and women who serve in this great nations armed forces.

Until you get the feel for all your pitchers....I recommend mixing up pitches.....high/low in/out.....in no particular pattern....AI will adjust to patterns and even if you throw a good pitch in their cold zone.....your pitcher will get rocked......also, recognize how much movement each pitcher has individually....as one pitchers breaking ball might start at middle of plate and drop down in the dirt or move way out of the strike zone .....where other pitchers you would have to start off at the bottom of the zone or else it be a hanging meatball.....so knowing your pitchers "stuff"+ timing + location + mixing up pitches = good success formula......at least for me it does .....nothing like "freezing" the hitter with a back door slider...

Also, the area you aim to is just where you want the ball to go (up+out, down+in, etc)...the break or movement of every individual pitcher's ability will determine where the ball lands...The "grade" of the pitch help (or makes it harder) to get that "tiny flashing dot" which essentially a "pitchers' pitch" and makes it difficult for hitters to make solid contact....and the timing of it, to make it happen varies greatly from pitcher to pitcher.

I'm curious to know how successful you guys have been getting K's when throwing a fat "!" pitch against the CPU. I've earned swinging K's on accident a couple times, and wonder if it's worth to gamble getting rocked by throwing a bad pitch intentionally. Has it been proven that this is something the CPU falls for often or am I imagining things?

It really depends.....a free swinger will go for it almost every time.....a disciplined hitter will rarely go for it.....another thing to consider is lesser a defensive catcher you have the higher the risk of a passed ball or wild pitch, specially with men on base....and if it's a very tight emotional game, you might find yourself at walmart buying a new controller....lol

Any type of meatball risks being jacked by the CPU. They are merciless in this regards (hate Wada).

LOL....Wada, Ramirez, Murata, Cabrera, Nakamura, T. Okada....all them big power guys that make good contact as well will make you pay dearly.....with T. Okada, Cabrera and Ramirez you need to be extra careful because they hit very well to opposite field with lots of power

I take solace that Ramirez looks like he's 80 yrs old.

FYI it seems to me the money pitch is a slider in the game. Changeups get murdered.
