PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
I didn't see any forums on here about 2010 but what exactly is the difference between the 2010 and 2011 version?Tags: None -
Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
I have noticed a lot more homeruns on 2011 which I don't like. 2010 has an awesome option in my opinion where you can use a "heavy ball" which makes it harder to hit homeruns. I really love that option but some probably don't care. I will be curious what some of the PYS veterans on this site have to say about 2011 vs 2010. I am definitely not a vet, just started playing the series lately. -

Agreed, Super Gloak.
PYS 2011 has way better graphics, TV style presentation, and better modes, but in my opinion 2010 has slightly better gameplay balance.
Because the heavy ball is gone, if you are good at hitting, and you try to play 2011 with the same options you used in the previous years, you will see way too many homeruns. There are solutions though (since there are still a lot of difficulties, pitch speed, and batting cursor options). There are also a bunch of minor annoyances that will bother long-time PYS veterans. It just seems not as polished as Konami baseball games are supposed to be.
Honestly though, I am in love with 2011 as much if not more than 2010. I will try to make a post on all the changes I can remember gameplay wise 2010 VS 2011 in the next few days.Pro Yakyu Spirits Translation Site

Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
"Heavy Ball" is not an option for download / purchase @ this time. There's really no way of knowing wether or not it will be in the future either. I honestly have no idea why they got rid of it. Come on Konami! Although I finally did hit a double off of the centerfield wall earlier today with Brett Harper no less, he's usually a sure fire homerun when he makes good contact with the power swing.Comment

Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
If you dont know anything about the JPN players there is a disconnect in 2010 because of the lack of TV presentation & graphics. You can play one game in 2011 and feel like you know the teams pretty well. Also, the player progression is more simplified & improved IMO while defense is more unpredictable in 2011.
But yea 2011 needs to tone down the long ball, if they patch that I think the choice will be clear. However, if you just want to pick-up & play an exhibition game occassionally I'd say 2010 would be a good choice.Comment

Thanks everyone. I'll probably stick with the 2010 version then. Unless I hear feedback on patches improving the amount of HRs or other gameplay issues you all mentioned.Comment

Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
I have 2010 for PSP and 2011 for ps3. I like the gameplay and broadcast cam angles of 2010 better but like the added mo cap in 2011. It may sound crazy but Im not that crazy about the TV style presentation. Some of the cut away up scenes are just ok.
On a side note, I still love PYS6 not for wbc but because it was released later in the baseball season b/c of the release of PYS5 Kenzenben (sp?), more of the newer players had signature stances and motion rather than the generic ones.Comment

Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
Yeah here it is.
First, these are just my personal observations from having played this series for many years. Don't take them 100% as facts.
Secondly, this might not be a complete list as I could've forgot some stuff.
Overall, I believe 2010 is a more polished game than 2011 and you will see why from my list.
Nuances/Minor Changes from 2010 to 2011 (on-field gameplay only, not related to graphics, modes, etc)
Bad:
- Balls fly much further than 2011 on homeruns/solid power contact
- Lack of "heavy ball" option
- Stupid CPU steal attempts (slow guys stealing, guys trying to steal 3rd in unnecessary situations)
- CPU pitcher frequent tries to pick-off and pitch-out to player's slow guys
- Defenders sometimes change momentum/direction unrealistically
- CPU seems to hit much more homeruns
- CPU power hitters are especially dangerous in 7/8/9-th innings, regardless of score
- Less accurate official scoring (sometimes errors are counted as hits)
- Easier to pick off CPU baserunners at 1st
Good:
+ Physics of contact-swing-on-ball feels better than ever
+ Easier to score from 2nd base on a single. feels great & realistic
+ Outfield arms more realistic: less accurate and a bit weaker as well (although sometimes they seem to stay on a line in the air longer)
+ New diving animation that reflects defensive ability
Netural (I dont think it's good or bad, just different from 2010)
- Good 2nd basemen and Shortstops seem to cover more grounds than before
- It takes 1 more step to get an infield single now
- Opposite field power swing - harder to make solid contact, keep fair
- Pitch Speeds are slightly adjusted so the fastest speeds now are a bit slower and actually playableLast edited by MukaMuka; 05-23-2011, 12:51 AM.Pro Yakyu Spirits Translation Site

Thanks for the comparison Muka. I would agree on the overall polish/gameplay aspects going to 2010 but man the graphics are so nice on 2011.Comment

Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
MukaMuka, did 2011 fix that problem you noted in 2010 where after a hit, the camera would cut away from the field prematurely before the play was over?Comment

Re: PYS 2011 v PYS 2010
the problem is mostly (but not completely) solved because after almost every play now, the camera would zoom in on a particular player in real time, showing the player throwing the ball back to the infield, causally standing around, etc. it's part of the new TV style presentation. i say mostly because there are still times when they will cut off a play early and show no presentation scenes afterwards, but it no longer bugs me like 2010.Pro Yakyu Spirits Translation Site
