    Few more questions:

Fielding in RTTS: do you actually get to turn double plays as a middle infielder? One thing I don't like about 2K's My Player is that you only get to start the double plays.

How is base stealing in RTTS? Does your manager give you signs or is it all up to you? Also, when youre at the plate with runners on base, does it let you know when the steal sign is on?

Does the Manage mode actually let you see the action on the field or is it text only?

    Thanks again.

Yes, you actually execute the turn. There is, if you have it turned on, a "spot" indicator that cues you to where you need to go. Same for covering the base on steal attempts.

As far as controls, there are r-stick controls and shoulder button control schemes. The base coach will give you signs (not enough IMO but I've never really played as a speedster) and you actually have to look to see what the sign is... i.e. tap helmet 3x = hit and run. You can run on your own too, but get caught and you'll get an email from the coach chewing you out, lol. I don't think it let's you, as the batter, know if a straight steal is on... very good question.

MoM games play out like watching a CPU vs. CPU game, but with your coaching decisions being mixed in

      Thanks again.

Edit: here is a pretty decent video on RTTS. At 13:30 it shows what the coach signals look like:

I totally agree with this. I got very used to 2K11's baserunning but I always end up using auto baserunning in the Show. You have to do absolutely everything which includes telling a runner on 3B to run home on a single, or a runner on 1B to take 2B on a wild pitch. I wish some of the very basic base running decisions were auto-executed but there is no in between. Either you do everything or let the cpu do everything. I did suck at stealing in 2K and never bothered. I like the ability to just tell my runner to go in the Show and the fact it's more ratings based.

I also agree with your thoughts on pitch speed and hitting difficulties Jeffy. Pitch speed has always been a problem for me in the Show. My frustration with that usually ends up significantly hurting my fun factor. But they slowed it down some more and with the new batting angle I think it will be better and I'm hopeful I will be happy this year. I don't agree with the idea that you can recreate the 2K batting camera angle though. Maybe you can in Show 12 but you couldn't come close in the Show 11. They let you adjust a lot of things but you couldn't stretch the distance between the batter and pitcher which was the main focal point of the 2K default angle imo. The Show does let you customize any area with its own difficulty (hitting on Pro but Pitching and Fielding on All-Star as an example). Plus you can use timed hitting, zone hitting, analog hitting or combinations on any difficulty level. Same goes for fielding (button, analog, Move if you want). Tons of options.

I wouldn't worry about getting hits over the OFers heads. Just slow down fielder speed and it becomes a non issue imo. Adjusting fielder and base runner speeds was a much bigger task with 2K than SCEA.

Analog pitching in the Show was loved by quite a few but it's very different from 2K. In my brief time with it I wished there was more randomness to it. If you missed the accuracy mark to the right, the ball ended up right of the mark 100% of the time. Same with vertical misses. I didn't like this. I think Pulse pitching will be really good though from what I've seen and read.

2K11 was fun. It had great commentary and I love the gesture pitching. But there are also a lot of things wrong with 2K and all the little things they get wrong really add up to hurt franchise mode as you know. After awhile I just got too annoyed with the problems and traded it in during the summer. I had rented MLB 11 and was going to go back but the high pitch speed kept me from doing it. I'd just be trading one set of frustrations for another but I expect that to be fixed this year. There is no question the Show is way more polished than 2K. You watch a highlight video of the Show and it looks like the real thing. The franchise mode will be much deeper. They have options - you can't send down veterans to the minors. Fatigue and injuries are done right. The Show devs also support the game much better with frequent patches.

Either way, if you get a PS3 you can choose either game or even both. You have the best of both worlds. And there are a ton of PS3 exclusive games like Soxfan mentioned earlier that are great. I used to only play sports games but Uncharted is great as are many other games. After a two year absence from the Show I will be going back to it. It was a nice break but I'm tired of 2K's bugs and problems. They would have to blow me away with their demo to keep me from switching back.

Thanks, Rudy. I really appreciate that very detailed reply. I have the 11 demo now and am having a blast with it. I'm so glad I finally switched over. I've wanted a PS3 for a few years now, but I couldn't justify paying so much for just one game.....but now that it's down to $250, I couldn't hold out any longer. Plus, I had a couple gift cards, so it was only $185 with free shipping. I got a great deal...and the best part is I got to keep my 360 too

I didn't even know there were coach signals in RTTS. That is AWESOME! I may start up a quick RTTS in MLB 11 to tide me over for 2 weeks until MLB 12. Thanks for the tip, Slab!

Jeffy, glad you are enjoying the MLB 11 Demo ... MLB 12 will be here soon!

No problem DJ! They are pretty cool, until you get your coach telling your 48-speed guy to steal or hit/run, then sends you an email chewing you out after you get gunned down! LOL

I definitely think they could be improved a bit tho, making it a little more variable and unpredictable. From that video, you can tell he automatically knew it was a hit and run, due to his player's attributes that's probably all he's ever asked to do. I don't think I've ever seen a "straight steal/don't swing" sign given.

Re: Thinking about buying a PS3...need some advice/persuasion

With baseball season approaching I pulled the plug about a month ago and got a PS3.
I couldnt be happier. I bought a used copy of MLB the Show 11 and have been playing it non stop since. The Show is such a great game. As a huge bball fan I cannot believe I wasted the last 5 or so years playing the MLB 2K series.
Again I really cant believe how good the Show is and I am so happy I made the switch to the PS3.
