I hear you on the second-guessing, as I do it all the time with games that I've traded in and then get the itch to buy back a week or three later.

As someone that bought a PS3 for MLB 10, I can safely say you will not be disappointed with the switch. You'll be able to pick up 2K12 in a couple of months when it's on sale if you want both games, but I think The Show will more than satisfy all of your baseball-gaming needs.

I got rid of my PS3 b/c I barely played it. I'm hoping 2K12 is good enough. You guys are making me think that won't be the case lol.

Most seem to agree that if you compare the the two, The Show's list is longer in regards to what it does better than 2K.
However, what 2K does right, destroy the Show at.
Gesture pitching is the bomb as is the presentation and commentary. It's not close in my opinion.
The Show's commentary is like listening to a box-maker talk about making boxes.

However, like most 2K sports games, there's a lot of bugs and glitches.
You won't find any throwing errors in 2K11 and the fatigue system is broken as well.

Overall, The Show has more polish and you won't feel you wasted money buying it.
However, I think if 2K12 was nothing more than 2k11 without bugs, you won't be disappointed at all.

PYS 2012 will be pretty darn good (better game play than the show for 2011) and is ps3 exclusive.

Unfortunately the NPB is completely uinteresting, and the game is in Japanese.

As someone who has purchased both games every year, it's not even close.

The Show is quite literally light years ahead of 2k12. Plus 2k's support of the PS3 version has been inconsistent at best over the past few years.

That's why it is so baffling to me why 2K isn't offering the NBA/MLB combo pack to PS3 owners. To me, that'd be a nice way to increase sales on that console and perhaps get some fresh eyes on your product.

2K's baseball games can be fun, but The Show is on an entirely different level.

There are 4 main things that 2K does really well:

1.) Commentary
2.) Online multiplayer (very smooth)
3.) MLB Today
4.) The default hitting cam is amazing for reading pitches (thankfully The Show is doing something similar this year....which is why competition is good).

But when it comes to pretty much everything else, all the little things, and, most importantly, overall GAMEPLAY.....2K seriously lags behind......which is why i just bought a PS3, and I've only played the The Show 11 demo so far, so I'm sure the full version is much better. I'm counting the days till 12 comes out.

You got xenophobic and roid rage from that post? Become more hypersensitive and jump to more conclusions.

Fact of the matter is, 99.9% of baseball fans over here don't care about the NPB. Not to mention, it's tough to get immersed in to a franchise mode for a game that's in a language you don't understand, and requires a translation guide for the simplest of tasks.

Why the PYS guys are so militantly defensive about that game, I don't understand.

At this point, I would probably play the PC version of MLB2k with the available mods out there over MVP. Although take that with a grain of salt, I never enjoyed MVP, and consider it one of the most overrated sports games ever.

I've played sports games for years and the only decent commentary is NHL with Thorne. Some like NBA2K haven't played much of that so I can't say.
Look at it this way the commentary on PYS won't ever get stale since you can't understand a GD they say.

Same thing with FIFA commentary, it gets boring throw it in Spanish or French..
