Will 2K12 sales affect MVP's return?

Just curious what you guys think. I just read an article about how EA seems keen on bringing baseball back. I am personally hesitant to spend my money on this mediocre offering by 2K thinking a strong showing this year might keep EA from taking over. Thoughts? I can link the article if requested.

    1- link the article please.
2- It doesn't matter how this game sells, the license is up for bidding & MLB will make the ultimate decision on who will make baseball games starting next year

I personally think MLB will be the biggest hang-up to the future of MLB games. MLB is seriously over valuing its declining stock.

No publisher is going to give Major League Baseball 2K money for exclusive rights in the near future. You may want to blame 2Ks quality for the poor sales but recall that The Show 2011 was outsold by a six month old NBA 2K11 last March. Added all together sales of MLB games don't even hit 1.5M units a year. That is bigger than a video game problem - that is a MLB problem, and those kind of numbers don't bode well for anyone thinking of publishing a MLB game.

The MLB needs to be smart instead of greedy. Forget the exclusive big payout and think how games can build new fans for the sport. That future is worth more than any single contract deal.

forget exclusive rights, we could potentially have 3 MLB games next year
Brian Kelly will have ND back this year.

Arizona State will bounce back this year too.

The Cubs will end the streak next year

I doubt next year, but maybe 2014. For 2 reasons. One, the MLB will still want an exclusive deal. It won't be until they realize that no one is willing to pay for it that they will open it up to all publishers. Secondly, It would be very difficult for any publisher to start on a game now and have it ready for the 2013 season.
