Can You Make The Show Play Like PYS?
I love the gameplay of PYS have every game made for the PS3 except for 5 I have 5 Kanzenban instead. Any settings you can use in The Show that can approximate the hitting and pitching in The Show that can make it play like PYS? I love the cursor hitting and the two button press is great for pitching IMO.Tags: None -

Here's the long one.
Arguably, The Show 12 is the closest you can get to PYS's gameplay, since they added truer ball physics and the Pulse Pitching interface option for this year's version. But the developers of The Show have a very different gameplay design philosophy that continues to be at odds with the level of control those of us who play PYS have come to expect. For example, while Pulse Pitching on the surface seems somewhat similar to the pitching interface in PYS, it actually has very little in common with it. In The Show, you can aim your pitching cursor exactly where you want the pitch to go, and time your release perfectly, with the cursor at its smallest possible point, and still throw a wild pitch, or at least a pitch that goes nowhere near where you intended it to go. This is because in The Show, stats are King, and can trump anything you do with the controller. Also, all of your decisions in a pitch are made before your pitcher begins moving. You select your pitch, select your location, then time your release, and then you sit back and watch the results. In PYS, as you know, you select your pitch, hit X to start the pitchers windup, then you aim your cursor and hit X again when you want your pitcher to release the ball. This may not seem like a big difference when I describe it, but in practice the differences are immense.
When batting, the differences between the two games are even more pronounced. Again, with the smaller "cursor" in The Show 12 -- which I put in quotes to emphasize that while it may seem like a batting cursor, it's really not -- the two games may seem to have similar batting mechanics, but this is again not the case. The PCI, as it is called in The Show, is merely a representation of the general area where your batter is expecting the pitch to come. So when you aim it at a specific part of the plate, you aren't actually aiming exactly where your batter is going to swing his bat, you are aiming where you think he should swing his bat. But as soon as you hit that swing button, the stats and player attributes under the hood once again take over, and determine the results. Where you aimed the PCI and the timing of your swing are certainly taken into consideration, but you will often see results that in no way reflect what you did with your controller.
I'm not trying to bash The Show. A lot of people love the way it plays. But don't expect it to play anything like PYS. In spite of what some people say, the two games play very differently. -

Missed that last one knight, anyways, I checked this game out not to long ago was able to get ahold of the 2011 version, wow. I found that spiritstranslation site through OS here and that really convinced me to give this game a try. This game is on another universe gameplay wise. There are two things that PYS does better than any baseball game past or present that is Batter/Pitcher interface and getting individual players to play like their real life counterparts and really differentiates players from each other. I can see why the us baseball game players are really growing around here its an impressive game.Comment

Only thing tho is the language can be a big barrier, granted spiritstranslation is a huge resource but I still feel that I cant get a complete experience from all the different game modes... still the gameplay from a random exhibition game is just brilliant. The addition of skills not just numbered attributes is huge I wish The Show would implement it, it just seems to bring individual players to life...Comment

I think the devs for The Show are missing the boat. How hard can it be to implement cursor batting and two button press pitching? If they would do that I would pick up the game but the way it is currently constructed I can't go near the boring azz thing.Comment
