Yeah, I get that. But I do think ratings weigh pretty heavily in PYS. When it comes to fielding, I'd say they are even more important than The Show. The difference between a good fielder and a mediocre one have a huge effect on gameplay in PYS.

And as far as decisions and strategy go I agree those should matter, but then, there is the execution of said decision or strategy, i.e. "fast twitch skills", by the way if you are really into the decision/strategy PYS has a ridiculously deep Manager Mode!Last edited by 19Redwings; 07-22-2012, 12:23 PM.Comment

Re: Can You Make The Show Play Like PYS?
I was just saying that after playing 6 iterations of the Show going back to '06, players, like yourself, have been forced to accept ratings driven gameplay and sometimes get blinders on to any other kind of gameplay. Being a hardcore Show fan I realize you're paranoid that everyone is attacking you in some subtle way but this is a PYS forum just chill...

Again this is the stupid condescending bull**** from PYS fans that have continually ruined these threads.
The notion that someone may prefer the show over PYS is so foreign there must be some alterior reason. Ridiculous.
I've played more than one version of PYS. I've played just about every Konami baseball, socccer and nba game released over the last 15 or so years. I've stated exactly why I don't enjoy their baseball games based on hands on experience.
As I said if they release an MLB version of the game I'd still buy it and still give it game time.Last edited by bkrich83; 07-22-2012, 06:11 PM.Comment

Re: Can You Make The Show Play Like PYS?
The one thing I wish American games would add that were/are in the Konami games were the skills. The extra little buffs and negatives that gave players a little more personality. I think the Power Pros series had this as well.Last edited by bkrich83; 07-22-2012, 06:30 PM.Comment

I am not sure more important than the Show. I think it's more subtle in the show. But to me fielding system has always been the weak point to the game. It's much improved but still the weakest component.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the player skills. Never played any of the Power Pros games, but I believe you are correct.Comment

Re: Can You Make The Show Play Like PYS?
Choose your pitch and location and ratings take care of the rest. There's lots of pre-pitch strategy involved; for example you have to figure in both the batter & pitchers special skills which can change on every pitch.
Also, stamina & control is affected across the board depending on the players condition coming into the game. Condition also effects fastball speed along with sharpness & break on 1 or 2 or your pitches. You have to figure out which ones they are and sometimes this can destroy your solid arsenal of breaking pitches.
Further, batters can get "dialed in" in to your pitches. For example, poor condition blew up your great curveball so do you go with your bread & butter fastball (which the batter has seen 3 times already), or your mediocre 2-seam or cutter? Pitchers can have up to 12 pitches so you always have lots of options.
I think the only thing both PYS and 'The Shows' classic pitching don't have (that High Heat had) was moving your pitcher around on the rubber. LOL most of the old-school games had that but none of the modern ones do.Last edited by Spirits Translation; 07-30-2012, 01:56 PM.Comment
