Idea For Utilizing the Classic Stadiums

I don't know if this is a file size issue or a licensing issue with the MLBPA, but, if not - I would love to see the following feature available in ASB (2006 maybe).

In the old Tony LaRussa on the PC (1 and 2) you had the ability to fully edit your rosters, and even set up leagues with different numbers of teams and games. As such, it was possible to go in and re-create past seasons. You could play with the exact same teams and do a random schedule. They also had a ton of classic ballparks, and you could assign whatever ballpark you wanted to teams.

With the help of the Baseball Encyclopedia, and TL's excellent player editor (it was great - you typed in a players' stats and the game would assign his attributes - which you could edit even further if you wanted - awesome), I was able to recreate the rosters for the 1955 season (the year the Brooklyn Dodgers won the World Series - as well as Ted Williams' last season and Roberto Clemente's first).

And - with so many classic ballparks available, I had the Pirates playing in Forbes Field, the Dogers playing in Ebbets Field, the Giants playing in the Polo Grounds, the Senators playing in Griffith Stadium, the Phillis playing in Shibe Park - along with the standard ballparks for the Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Tigers (were still playing in Tiger Stadium back then).

It was really enjoyable to play this season - 154 games with the teams that actually played one another in 1955 - straight into a AL vs. NL World Series (i.e no playoffs) just like in 55. I played as the Brooklyn Dodgers, which was really fun, because I got to know Ebbets Field really well - and got to play in Forbes and Shibe Park and the Polo Grounds several times as well.

So - with all of this preamble - I guess my question is - would people want to have something like this available in future incarnations of ASB? On one hand, you have the stadiums available, and - it wouldn't seem too difficult to be able to put in a similar editing feature for teams and rosters. But - on the other hand - would people even want to play say the 1927 season over again (I would) - or would this just be for those few die-hards who would be willing to break out the Baseball Encyclopedia for some serious roster editing?

I had even wanted to recreate a Negro League season (the Crawfords in 1936 with Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson)- but - there wasn't as much information available back then, and - I never got around to it....

Re: Idea For Utilizing the Classic Stadiums

That was the great thing about the High Heat Series..until HH2004. I created seasons to recreate..1951, 1973, 1969, 1986 and 1994. All with complete rosters and some resrves sitting in the minors. I had a blast trying to get the Boys from Brooklyn ahead of the mighty Giants in 1951!
This was only possible due to DangerZ's awesome editor for HH. HH's in game editor was atrocious(take a cue here ASB...add the ability to change positions and ages in the editor! Please!!)
Unfortunately, ASB is console only(release this game for PC!! You will have MANY,MANY converts....especially with High Heat gone.) The editing flexiblitly is just not that great with consoles...unless someone makes a converter like Flyin'Finns editor for ESPN HOCKEY. With a Sharkport(PS2) or and Action Replay(XBOX)..you coule transfer the save files to an editor on the PC..work the rosters on the computer and then transfer them back to the console. Someone get crackin on this!

Thats why I loved Tony LaRussa so much. I created the Homestead Grays and played in Forbes Field. What a blast! I hope the classic ballparks can be used in a franchise mode. That would make me a very happy man!!

Thats why I loved Tony LaRussa so much. I created the Homestead Grays and played in Forbes Field. What a blast! I hope the classic ballparks can be used in a franchise mode. That would make me a very happy man!!

It's been a while OS. Hope all are doing well!
