Re: pys 13 news?
Probably in January. Worked that way last year anyway. I like 12 but that's a ton of money for a roster update. I think they've pushed the 3 to the max graphically by now. -
Re: pys 13 news?
Nope the casual hell even a lot of hard core gamers won't touch this game. They just can't be bothered because it's in Japanese even though you can get nearly a full translation over at Spirits. Do you think anyone except the hardest of hard core will pay their price for a game with 12 teams? Nah.Comment

Re: pys 13 news?
I've always played this series with Normal Cursor hitting until I popped in PYS11 today and tried Zone Hitting which replicates timing only batting in The Show and Classic Hitting in the 2k series of games. I read that the complaint with zone or timing only hitting was the lack of hit variety. Not really. Slide pitch speed and pitch difficulty up to maximum and see what you think. Turn the Batting Point off.Last edited by lhslancers; 12-22-2012, 10:56 AM.Comment

To say I'm delighted with it so far is an understatement. After playing The Show the past few years, and enjoying it to be fair, that game now just seems so clunky and contrived. Don't think I could ever go back now, it has that air of randomness that always nagged at me.
Hitting in Spirits straight out the box on normal is fun and the real physics that the excellent Spiritstranslation site mentioned is immediately evident.
I can read both kana, slowly, so that did give me a good start but I agree, with a bit of effort, this is a fantastic experience.Comment

Re: pys 13 news?
Glad to see a new player enjoying the game!
News for this year's version should come next week if we are lucky. New PYS games are usually announced in magazines mid-January every year!Pro Yakyu Spirits Translation Site

Re: pys 13 news?
Yep, it's very well done too.
The Show on Vita is a decent title but it has a few drawbacks that makes PYS superior - besides the mechanics.
- The ball in PYS is pretty much the correct size and is easy to see, so when the MLB devs said that they went for the beachball look because the alternative didn't work, that must be taken with a pinch of salt.
- The crowd graphics in PYS are native resolution. They're very sharp looking.
- Lots of little cutscenes, crucially homerun celebrations, that make The Show on Vita a very sterile experience are all present and correct in PYS Vita. It's much more alive. Even the mascots are there.
My only major criticism thus far of PYS Vita is that my European machine struggles with the sound and it will occasionally break up, so I need to tweak the cheering band and crowd noise to get a reasonable aural experience.
Muka: Looking forward to hearing news, wondering if the WBC will be in? Thanks for your work on spiritstranslation. Very informative.Comment

Re: pys 13 news?
Good to know I'm not the only Scotsman playing PYS and loving it!!
I'm hoping the hitting this year will be slightly easier, as I had to lower my difficulty in 2012 due to me finding it a lot harder than 2010 and PYS 6.
I know the changes were made to reflect the new ball and the lower stats that resulted from it, so I may just have to get used to it!!
And like Therion7 above, I would also like to thank Muka for all his hard work on the translation site and would urge everyone to to show your appreciation by sending a donation.Comment

This is quite a good site for looking up any kanji if you're into that sort of thing.

Re: pys 13 news?
Enjoying it so much Jimbo, I've ordered the PS3 version. Still playing on default settings and I'm getting hits but few runs. Practice required.

I actually only bought my PS3 a just over a year ago, simply so I could play MLB 2k and The Show and was a bit wary about buying this at first but I honestly can't speak highly enough of the game.
The hitting and ball physics are fantastic and puts the other games to shame and it doesn't have that scripted feeling that I feel The Show has.... although it is still a great game as well.
My only criticism is the lack of balls thrown by the CPU, which means that pitch counts tend not to be too high - although this could just be me not finding the right settings yet.
Oh and one thing I would say about creating runs, is to pay attention to the players special skills and also that small ball is your friend... bunt and steal your way to the plate!!
Cheers for the link, as I have been trying to decipher the instruction booklet looking for tips etc.
Btw if anybody UK baseball fans are interested, there is a copy of PYS 6 (includes the 2009 world baseball classic) currently on ebay UK for sale and it's worth a look if you have a spare £20. (Not me selling it but I did recently buy MLB Bobbleheads of the guy!!)Comment
