How much better is The Show compared to 2K?
I have been a fan of The Show since I left High Heat. I couldnt stand MVP and never understood the hype, especially since there was no all team control. But how bad is 2K13? Everything I have read is terrible. Is the game really that bad? I have never played the series period but is it me or does that graphics look cartoonish?Tags: None -

I was never too crazy about the MVP series either. The MVP series had good gameplay, don't get me wrong, but the games just didn't feel authentic or realistic to me. It felt like a cartoon, like you were saying.
The 2k series looks like a cartoon too. Not as badly as MVP did but it does look a little cartoonish. I haven't played the 2K series for all that long so I can't really comment on the gameplay, but I can say that The Show series has a lot of polish. It looks real, it plays real, and the gameplay is good. It's my second favorite Baseball series since Sega's World Series Baseball on the Genesis. It combines excellent realistic graphics and good gameplay.Comment

2K isn't a bad game, it is sufficient for XBox users, but lets just say the only reason I bought the PS3 was for The Show. The show is just overall more polished, more realistic, better gameplay, etc. I played 2K for quite a few years after High Heat, and MVP(which I personally loved BTW), and I never hated the game, but I also played The Show on a buddies system and fell in love with it right away! I haven't played 2k13, but I do know the last time I played 2k, a lot of hitting animations were the same, fielding was horrid, and there were a lot of things that were better in The Show overall! I have friends who love 2k and play it all the time, but for me, The Show is just an overall better game.Comment

Re: How much better is The Show compared to 2K?
2k12 and 2k13 have drained the fun from the series completely. Gameplay is no longer fun, it's just annoying.
The Show is also irritating as hell, but having not played the 2013 version I almost find it impossible to believe it isn't at least ten times better than 2k13.
This is how dismayed I am with the 2k series. It flat out sucks!Comment

Re: How much better is The Show compared to 2K?
I played MLB '12 and 2K last year and I had way more fun with 2K than The Show.
This year, because of the changes I read about MLB '13 and the fact it has offline co-op for my son and I to play together, I went that route.
MLB '13 is a great game and a lot of fun as well.
If I had to compare 2K12 to MLB 13 as far as enjoyment goes, I'd give the nod to 2K12 (not by much though).
In the end, your question is really subjective. What makes a game fun for me, might be entirely different for you.
If you're really into graphics, The Show by a landslide.
If you love presentation and commentary, 2K dominates.
Gameplay wise, both are solid with one being better than the other in some categories.
I honestly don't think any baseball fan (hardcore, or casual) would be turned off by either game.
But for my tastes, I wouldn't say The Show is light-years better than 2K.
When comparing the overall product, both have a lot to offer.Comment

when you compare both games, they both have pluses and minuses. and if you do a search you will find a ton of other similar threads. (i have played over a 100 games with both 2k12 and the show 12 each.)
but one guy really made a point with the previous versions of mlb the show. he mentioned you need fighter pilot vision to see the ball on the show. i thought he was harsh until i realized i actually have eagle vision. i also realized the show is totally immersing if you are going to play it almost daily. any decent breaks (4 or more days) and you start to lose your edge in plate vision.
so the biggest thing you need to consider is time you are going to spend. 2k is much easier to hit the ball. in fact the whole batter / pitcher battle is so much better on 2k. the analog pitching and the fact pitches are just so much easier to read give 2k a serious edge in this department.
both can be very immersive.Comment

I play MLB 13. It's an excellent MLB video game.
When life gets in the way of 2k11 it takes me about 3 pitches to get my timing back.Comment

I only play a handful of hours a week so I found '11 and '12 really hard even at the pitch speed slider at 0.
'13 has been a godsend for my slow reflexes and terrible video game skills.
I can actually pick up on a breaking ball now.
I still prefer 2K's pitching and hitting, but '13 is much better now.Comment
