Yes ASB is the most authentic around. I really enjoy this game and I really appreciate the time and hard work that these developers put into it. This is a game catered more for the dye in the wool baseball fan while MVP as someone said is a simcade type of game. (tho their dynasty mode looks to be the best of the bunch if it isn't buggy)
some props to the ASB team...

In your minds, what does ASB do better than the other games?

Details and authenticity.
Player models, distinctive stances/animations/deliveries, and stadiums are the best in the business. And there's crazy-deep details like the ivy at Wrigley slowly growing in as the season goes on. Some of the stuff you wouldn't even see until you played a few weeks of franchise.
There's an attention to detail in this series like no other baseball game. That's why we say they seem like real baseball fans.

I agree with everything these guys said. It's the small things like being able to see pitchers warming up in the pen, while the game is being played (other games may or may not have this by now, but it's the kind've thing that ASB has always done first), great hot/cold zones, balls ricocheting realistically in the stands, etc.
If you've watched the videos, you've already seen from the BTP Cam that they have different umpire animations on strike-outs. I don't know that I've ever seen that done before. Mascots dancing on dugouts, broken bats & passed balls/wild pitches, inaccurate throws to the bag, pitch (and hit) charts, minor leagues, TV Broadcast replays, future thrown animations, etc., those are all things that ASB has had for year(s). It's always great to see how they improve on and add new things every year. And for my money, it always plays a great game of baseball, too.Comment

I can already tell that MVP's gonna clean up at the cash register this year based solely on casual fans and buzz from critics/clerks who are looking for flashy simcade-type games (particularly one with the EA logo), not a sim.
But I want the ASB developers to know how much the true hardcore baseball fans appreciate this incredible amount of work and detail. This game is like a love letter to baseball fans.
