The way I understand it is this--expansion teams cannot use current or future MLB stadiums, only retro and expansion parks.

HOWEVER, considering you have the option to choose your stadium before every game, it's not a big deal, as you can simply pick a current stadium if you want. So if you're the As, you can play a 3 game series against the Mariners in Shibe Park in a blizzard, Future As at night, and the Cornfield at high noon. At least that's my interpretation of what asb_man said.

You see folks, they really don't have 80 stadiums, they have about 70 or so, where all of the future stadiums are put in the game twice, under different names.

You see, they can be used as expansion stadiums, fortunately, but they're called something different other than the actual future stadium name.

You can't make up a team name as the expansion teams all have their own preset names already.
