Re: Mysteries of the ASB Save System ???

Ok. There is no save bug. I never claimed there was one but I did figure out what was going on.

The game has 3 types of files it creates : ROSTER(S),FRANCHISE(S),OPTION
(notice there are no "Player Profiles" files - check your Xbox memory)

None of the files are renamable and there is only a single OPTION file which becomes confusing if you don't know what is going on. When you create a PLAYER PROFILE you are actaully just adding to the OPTIONS file. You can create and name several Player Profiles but your Xbox never actaully creates a file for them, it just stores this info in the OPTION file.

That is why you get the confusing save messages - one conformation to save your PLAYER PROFILE directly followed by another conformation to save the OPTIONS file. This is confusing because most people are going to think they already saved their PROFILE so why now do they have to save OPTIONS and why is there only one option file if you can have multiple Player Profiles.

There really aren't multiple player profiles (at least not individual files) - there is just one option file with all the different profiles embedded inside of it along with their stats and customized configuration. That is why if you delete the OPTION file you will loose all of your player profiles, stats and card points.

I think it is odd they allow you to delete the option file from in the game rather than just using the Xbox Dashboard. This would solve a lot of confusion by just having the user deal with Player Profiles and not worry about where they are actually stored.

As for the Rosters. You load them individually before you play a game (they can't be tagged onto a profile). If you load one, start a franchise and then save your franchise the entire roster is saved in your franchise file as well as the normal roster file. So you could delete the roster file without harming the franchise.
