Re: I need help enjoying this game

I don't think 'scripted' is the right word for it because most accurate sports sims should take player attributes into account as well as a gamer's skill. The effect where you see the ball get 'vacumed' into the glove is not a scripted event but just an animation glitch. It doesn't effect gameplay other than the looks.

I have had some of the best pitcher/batter duels in ASB than I have had in any other game. ASB might not have some razzle dazzle pitching meter but it takes many more pitcher statisics into account to determin control and accuracy. If you don't think it is fun to take your starter into the bottom of the 7th, running on fumes and missing like mad yet still work the batter into a long count for a strike out then I don't know what to tell you.

Re: I need help enjoying this game

Thanks for SOME of the answers.

As for the post that says I need to watch and play more ball.....I did watch the game (at 4 CT), I watch several games a week (satelite package...gotta follow my A's) and have played for over 30 years. I have coached the game, been a partial season ticket owner for the Rangers. I attend high school and Minor league games around Texas when I visit those cities they are in.

Point is...the gameplay still bores me at times. I was looking for tweaks that might help me. Many games have sliders that you can adjust that will fix it so that the starters don't last for 15 innings or be able to K 19.Yes, I like the pitching meter in MVP...yes, I wish I could set it so that I didn't have such good control. I am not a manage person at this point in my life. I like to play the game.

I really like a lot of this game, so again...if there is anybody who has some tips, please let me know.

First of all, your starters won't last 16 innings in ASB. It is pretty realistic. I hate the fact that zone is broken, but you have to give credit where credit is due. The AI in this game is great. The simulation is great. I just need to find a good hitting mode. It is not boring. Baseball is not boring. It's the greatest game.

The pinpoint pitch control goes waaay south in the later innings or on HOF or Legend, so you may need to bump up the difficulty if you've found the pitching too easy. Like Inin said, the AI is a ton better than MVP, and on the harder levels, its feels great to get a called third strike(an event missing from another un-mentioned game ) on a unexpected curve in on the hands after pounding the zone away with heat.

FYI, MVP features a fair amount of called strikes, using the exact method you referred to. Just takes some practice.

                                Give it some time...

FYI, MVP features a fair amount of called strikes, using the exact method you referred to. Just takes some practice.
