I need help enjoying this game

I own MVP for the PS2, but have been disappointed with the idea that the Dynasty may not work, so I am trying out ASB for the Xbox. I like MVP. I have always played High Heat in the past.

As I play a game in ASB, I am getting bored. When I pitch, I hit a button and then it feels like it takes way too long before the pitch is actually thrown.

The fielding feels fake...like I move the players, but they will catch it if they are supposed to, not if I get there (I saw an outfielder (cpu) sit in one spot for a while before moving about 15 feet at the last minute to catch a balll ). It almost looks as if the ball curves to my player's glove.

Anyway, what can I do to make it a bit more exciting as far as the gameplay goes. I love the Franchise itself, just not playing the games.

    Thanks

It feels like the game is scripted. I think that all sport games are scripted, not just baseball games. Hopefully on the next generation systems this will all change.

My advice to you would be to watch more MLB baseball, starting tonight at 5am E.T.
OR play more real-life baseball to see what the game's pace/feel really is like.
Hope to see you on xbox live to discuss this more.

I think I'm ready for sony to approve ASB05 so I can go on a vacation...

I don't think 'scripted' is the right word for it because most accurate sports sims should take player attributes into account as well as a gamer's skill. The effect where you see the ball get 'vacumed' into the glove is not a scripted event but just an animation glitch. It doesn't effect gameplay other than the looks.

I have had some of the best pitcher/batter duels in ASB than I have had in any other game. ASB might not have some razzle dazzle pitching meter but it takes many more pitcher statisics into account to determin control and accuracy. If you don't think it is fun to take your starter into the bottom of the 7th, running on fumes and missing like mad yet still work the batter into a long count for a strike out then I don't know what to tell you.
