Re: After playing MVP and ASB.........ASB is the one for me

think the pitching is well done. i don't like the meters. I like selecting a pitch and location, and i like the fact that my pitchers aren't perfect. They seem to fatigue properly (maybe a bit early) and as they do, they lose some effectiveness.

I am confused here. You like the fact that in ASB your pitchers arent perfect? Just the opposite is the case. In MVP, pitcher error is factored into your skill with the meter, In ASB, there is no skill involved, its move analog stick, press button, no skill necessary. Not to mention that the ASB pitching is very floaty, lacks adequate feel and feedback, and has balls routinely violating the laws of physics. I am just playing Devils Advocate here a little bit, because I like ASB also, but there are areas where it REALLY trails the competition (as has been frequently pointed out), and pitching is one of them.

Does a game have to have pitching meters to be random? When i pick a spot in ASB and throw to it, i don't always hit it, just like in real life. However, if you master the meters in MVP, you can paint the corners every time. Granted, your "green" area is larger or smaller based on a players rating, but still, become proficient at the meters and you can make the ratings obsolete.

I haven't found this true at all with MVP. Then again, with all the pitching aids off and controller vibration off, it makes the game that much harder. I think that's the problem. Not many take the time to turn the aids off and claim the game is too easy. However, I don't walk as many people as I should, but I've never played a game where that was true....

I disagree. If you turn off all the aids, the pitching in MVP is very realistic, probably the most realistic in Baseball gaming. OF course you get more proficient at it, but MVP has the best risk/reward pitching system, and you really pay for mistakes. I just dont get that with ASB, but that doesnt mean its a bad game because of that. Your comment regarding how ASB's system was better just struck me as strange since your example given, seemed to be exactly the inverse of what popular belief is, and what the facts are.

But hey, I like ASB also, its a quality game, but I find if very difficult to believe that its pitching system is more realistic, or better.

I've gone back and forth between MVP and ASB. I now pitch in both games with all the aids turned off. In MVP, I have yet to give up a walk. In ASB, I give up about 1-2 per game...unintentionally.

Even with the aids off, it's still too easy to avoid walks in MVP. Unless you have a spasm, you'll always get the meter in the green. I like the idea of metered pitching, but it seems too accurate.
