Add me to the list as well. I was really struggling with the 2D cursor. I was finally making contact, but everything was a pop up or dribbler. I was getting about 4 hits a game, and one was usually a lame infield hit.

I switched to 3D last night, and got 5 runs on 10 hits which was more than in any of my 20+ games with the 2D.

I also recommend turning off the strike zone and hitter aid. I find them more distracting than beneficial.

I definitely think that the 3-d cursor is the best of the bunch. I hate cursor batting , HATE IT. But for once, specially with the 3-d one, i am having a great time using cursor batting.

I am not good. I play on veteran which translates into a pretty big cursor, but with my poor skills, it works out for some realistic/fun results.

It does seems that this game was designed to be played with the 3D cursor. While Timing, Zone and 2D were put into the game, it definately does not seem that they got as much attention in the development process.

All Star isn't that much different than Veteran this year. It's tougher to get a hit and all, but the results are far more realistic. On Veteran with 3D cursor I was getting scores like 14 and 15, and guys like Rafael Palmeiro were hitting 4 and 5 homers through the first 5 games of the season. I decided that was kinda stupid and moved on to All-Star, and the cursor size isn't that much of a difference. AI is much more realistic for me so far on All-Star. Also, the FeilderCam seems to be a little different, in a much better way. Instead of following outfielders to the wall, on short fly balls that they have to struggle to get to it would turn the cam and show the ball falling towards the wall as they made the catch. I liked this cam alot better. More realistic, AGAIN. If you have trouble adjusting to the increased pitch speeds just go one lower.

I feel you though, man, in terms of level of difficulty, I kinda suck too. However, ASB is the kind of game where that doesn't matter. You're just playing a fun baseball game for the sake of having fun, yaknow?

Re: For those of you complaining about....

I had been using the 2-d cursor as well and was having a lot of trouble getting hits so I went back to the zone hitting last night and I must say I enjoyed it. At SIM pitch speed it is still challenging (I struck out a lot) and, to me anyway, realistic. The problems I have with the cursor is two fold: 1) like someone above mentioned with the cursor I end up looking at the cursor more than the pitch and 2)the cursotends to override the natural abilities of the players. Again, like somebody above said if you look at the batters hit charts you can see that zone hitting does a pretty good job having hitters hit it where they should. With the cursor all the batters end up feeling the same to me because to too large a degree it is bout my ability not the players..

Anyone using the analog swing at this point?
                        Thanks for the advice.

In defense of the 2D cursor, I've heard the cursor works best if you have the crosshairs aimed NEAR the ball (maybe a little off to the left or right of the ball). If you were to have the crosshairs aimed ON the ball, that's what leads to popups or dribblers.

The one thing I don't like about the 3D cursor is that it still feels too easy to dictate your hit. I know real majorleaguers can determine where they want the ball to be hit (eg: If there's a runner on 2nd, you obviously want to hit it to the right field). However, it doesn't work in their favor all the time. Yet in ASB05, it just feels like the ball goes to where you want it to go EVERY TIME.

I'm playing on: All Star difficulty with Classic pitch speeds without the generated counts.
